I always fancied myself as a mild risk taker but a "deal a day" site was giving these away for free and I checked them out I was stunned at how irresponsible using something like this would be.  It's like taking a somewhat large open flame and tossing it to the wind.  Or maybe I am getting too old.  Heck, I don't even fight with members here any more.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKCyH08j8AE&feature=related Kim

The sky lantern would be a dangerous threat to the total security of the United States if it was let go by a liberal while a conservative watched. The same lantern would be an environmental disaster of epic proportions matching the exploding oil well in the Gulf of Mexico if a conservative let it go & a liberal saw it happen. The truth is probably somewhere in the middle.

You just need to get a sky lantern so you can get that spark lit to fight again.

If released properly i think there pretty safe...the key word is properly.

The flame in them is quite small so as soon as it gets high enough it will burn out and drop to the ground, from my reading they have a coating on them to prevent them from catching fire...honestly if there up in the air and did id imagine it would probably go out before it hits the ground.

Id say those guys are idiots for doing it on a roof where it can easily hit something and land on someones roof and possibly set fire to there house but if done in an open field id imagine there pretty safe.

A couple of years ago, I had a party at my house and a guy who works for me
brought 3 chinese lanterns. We tied the three of them together with
15' of fishing line to form a triangle and let them loose.

This stuff started appearing in the next couple of days.
