Silver Charger

Hello,  I'm a new member.  I'm Dave68RT's father.  We decided that the restoration was taking too much time, so, I took over the ownership of the Charger and David got a used truck.  Not a bad deal since the '68 R/T is my favorite of all time.....I have a couple of questions. 1). Is there a certified appraiser anyone can recommend?   2). I need a heater control valve (for 440 w/A/C).  Stephen' Performance in Ala. has one but its $314.00.  3).  Did the '68 Charger have as an option an outside right-hand rear view mirror?

Here's a picture of the car...

Thanks,
Scott

Well I can answer #3.  Yes the right hand mirror was an option in 1968, manual only though.  The rmote mirror was a driver's side option only.

I was wondering recently what became of your boy, that explains it.
How's the resto coming & what kind of truck did Dave get?

Oh & welcome aboard.

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Welcome to the Board.

As far as a certified appraiser? Insurance companies can give you an appraisal, but if your looking for a supposed expert on Mopars, well then you have a few choices as well. Many people prefer calling Galen Govier the guru of Mopars, and if its a HEMI E body, he might be the most knowledgeable, but as far as Chargers are concerned I wouldn't look to him for an appraisal.
Wayne Wooten would be an excellent choice, however he is a very busy man as well. Maybe you can just contact your local Mopar club and they can put you in touch with someone local who can appraise the car. Or if you would rather pay someone to do it, then the list can grow to include many more names.

And how current is that pic?  Cuz the resto looks done to me.  Nice car!

Thanks for the info on the appraiser.  Dave found an '04 GMC Sierra 1500 Vortec VHO with 5700 miles.  The boy knows how to find a vehicle.  The picture is over a year old.  I call the paint on that car the "100 foot paint job"  Looks good from 100 ft.  At this time the car is being re-painted.  Should be back together completely by the end of January. Can't wait.  Also, thanks for the info on the outside rear view mirror....

100 foot paint job huh?  Well, it looks stunning in that photo so I can only imagine what it will be like when you're done.

:iagree:

Are you planning on hanging onto this car for a while?

When it's completed, the wife wants it to be sold.  I want to keep it.  I usually win these type battles.  She does whatever she wants to the house without any problems from me....
