Like tan top said what is it on? The Acclaim?

It should be louder if it the old style cylinder glasspack.

How is the Chargers cat convertor? It may be clogged up and I would bypass it either way

All glasspacks actually sound like they actually muffle when you put them on at first....  until you actually drive them for awhile... the stuffing blows out then sound like crap.  :shruggy:   :Twocents:

Depends on the Engine's Compression/exhaust as to how much "Noise" that Glasspack makes..You don't just bolt one on and Presto! you have a race car...Especially, if the car in question has a Cat. Converter..

Old style Glasspacks have scallops cut in the internal pipe and they do sound different depending on which way you put them if you look through the inner pipe you will see what im saying. One way the exhaust will flow over the bumps(scallops). The other way the scallops will catch the exhaust and absorb it into the packing(creating backpressure) ,,It also depends on where you locate the glasspacks ..The closer to the motor ,,the more raspy/poppy it will sound,as it has more tail pipe to travel through. The farther away you put it the more deep throaty sound you will get The size of the exhaust pipe has alot to do with the sound too!

So,in short if your looking for a nice cackle when you let off  WOT (assuming you have a V8+duals )  hook up your glass packs directly to or not far from your manifolds/headers  then reduce the tailpipe to 2 1/2 all the way out the back     Thats how i did my truck and it sounds good! Hope this helps!

Or just get flowmasters ,,,theyll make anything sound like its got a HEMI ;D!

:shruggy: ya say ya put a glasspak on your plymouth????? the acclaim is-ply and charger is a 77 with low compression smog motor and cat-verter and will not sound good with single exhaust any way??? and illegal ta remove cat-verter in most all states.... just drive it and some day glasspak will burn out in side and make more sound.clean looking car ,take care of it and enjoy it some day it may be legal ta hot rod it..

I put them on my car and it sounded like a Nascar.  WAY to loud.  You couldn't hear yourself think.  So, off they came.  I run Hooker mufflers and I love the tone.  It's a very deep deep low rumble.

I run glasspacks on my 69 dart. It's a 273 with dual 2 inch pipes all the way back. It sounds good......but it is loud and obnoxious. That's what I wanted on this car. It's flat black, jacked up in the ass end ...with deep dish cragars...just kinda fit   ;)

A-A_A-Aglasspak the kid said he put A   GLASSPAK ON IT :shruggy: :shruggy: AND wonders why it sounds like stock muff-ler??????? :brickwall:

is lizzy the only person on here with a cordoba/charger?.. i know someone bought a Magnum last yr. but i think this is the first '77 I've ever seen on the site...  :shruggy:

I put a glass pack on my truck and it didn't change the tone at all this is because it had the stock cats on it still but as soon as you take off the cats it will change the tone and give you the sound your after but not sure if that's legal in your case with emissions  and state rules in your area. Anyone have a sound clip of  cherry bomb glass packs on there car with 3" exhaust I plan on trying them out when I redo my exhaust to run out in front of the rear wheels

skip68

I was told the longer the glasspack is the louder it is.

Glasspacks sound like you have an inner tube strapped to the back of the pipes and is flappin' in the wind under WOT...They are like Air Shocks and 12" wide wheels with N/50 tires sticking out the rear, side pipes, curb feelers, ground straps hangin' off the rear bumper, fuzzy dice, etc....

If your building a 1970's "retro" show car, then by all means, but today we have better mufflers out there.

I have heard it is the opposite as the larger surface area reduces noise.

I have heard that before you install them you pour some oil in them and get it to soak in every nook and cranny and that it will help break up all the absorbent and will smoke and smell like crazy for a while but will get rid of all of the sound deadening and allow your mufflers to resonate better.

hahaha my car is 4 for 6 on your list of awful things  :icon_smile_big:  it'll all get fixed soon enough... except you're taking my fuzzy dice over my dead body!

I think that's backwards. My truck has 18" glass packs on it and it sounds like a dragster (side exit too). The previous owner said he'd ordered 24" to keep the sound levels down but got the wrong ones. I'll be swapping them to normal mufflers as soon as possible to cut down on unwanted attention.

Just curious as to what's wrong with glasspacks?  :shruggy:   what kind of performance do they offer compared to a dynomax super turbo muffler? Is there any loss in HP running a glasspack instead of super turbo's?
