BOOBIES!!!  :o  OK, Now that were all happy, Mancini sells a reinforcement bracket for the axle housing that would help. You will want to cut a V grove along the split and build up the area with a few layers of weld. (Notice how I avoided using the terms "stiffener & crack")

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

Thanks guys, and your welcome!  I was kinda hoping for an invisible fix as the rear end is original to the car.

the fix could be mostly invisible if you groove it and weld properly. after welding grind it smooth. the weld on there was more like a surface weld that didnt penetrate. with a proper weld it will go all the way through the case.

:iagree:

If it adds considerable value to the car, the repair can be made inside and out, and dress/finish the outside. Still, the reason it cracked to begin with needs to be addressed-if the car is raced or abused with sticky tires it may come back again no matter what. Was the car ever in an accident?
