   I'm an old school guy.
I resisted the Pager thing and haven't had a cell phone even,.. something about being on the phone too much as it is on my job and all, that and enjoying my peace and privacy... till now...
Si im want to finally go ahead and get a Cell, and i want a video capability so im thinking going with bluetooth to download onto my new dell computer.
I'd like to get everything bundeled in a package but realize there are a few different options...
Cable hi-speed at 40 bucks a month after the inital discount,.. plus my phone service and getting everything intigrated...
any one of you techno brainiacs got any suggestions or advice?..   ???

I would stay away from SprintPCS.  I have them and the service has been good but the billing is always screwed up. They tell you one thing when you agree to the contract and then bill you different later. Then they say they are sorry and adjust your account for the screw up and 2 months later its billed wrong again. As soon as my contract is up I am going somewhere else.

Using Sprint with a camera costs extra a month to have your pictures and stuff end up on a computer.  I would be interested in how other phone companys charge for this. You can send phone to phone free but get them to a computer costs money via email. I am wondering what the blue tooth would do?! I do know there are worms out there for cell phones now and blue tooth is becoming a standard wireless thing for lots of electronic items.

40$ for cable high speed! Man thats a lot! They are offering package deals here in Kansas for cable and dsl with phones and tv.

A big 10-4!!!! Exactly. With Sprint they tell you in the begining you will pay so much for the service, but when you get the bill there is all kinds of extras that were never explained. Whatever service you go with, makesure you tell them to explain to you what exactly you will be billed for. Good luck.

Plus they will always try to get you signed up on a new longer contract and/or more options just to talk to them. Most will but Sprint is notorious for it.

Sprint once called me telling me very rudely that they were going to cut me off and take me to court if I didn't pay them nearly $900.00 in back fees. Of course I didn't owe them anything and was current or so I thought and when we looked into it we found that internally an employee had apparently put a friend out of California on my billing and he ran up my bill.
Out of fear of me taking them to court them Sprint gave me a really nice package of minutes and early night rates and no contracts for a very good price. That's the only reason I'm still with them but I'm about to jump ship.
I suggest looking at Consumer Reports, I take it and they do reviews of cell providers and tell you who is good etc..
Sprint pretty much sucks.

This is what I got, not Avail. here in the states, but, I have a great "connection"! $99.oo bucks!  :yesnod:
I got a t-mobile one yr. contract and that deal is kaput as of the first of this month, (Meaning they only have two yr. deals now) So I acted just in time... I found being as first time buyer I got alot of savings, perks and extras...

I'm still learning to use it, but getting alot better everyday..

I have been with T Mobile for about four years now. I am very happy with them.

Does anyone even have long distance on their hard line phone anymore?  We dont. we use the (sprint) cell for long distance and the home phone for incomming calls from relatives and telemarketers.

First, not having a pager or cell phone is not old school, it's liberating.  What changed to make you want one?  Heck, I am on the cutting edge of tech, used to be on the bleeding edge but I don't game anymore. I've been bittorrenting, emuling, pseudo remailing, mp3 playing digital file trading and editing for years.  I have spoken on a cell twice in my life and both times I just asked a stranger to use their phone (and I am a dumb lawyer who is on the phone all the time).  I would never, ever (even if for free) pay to have a ball and chain on my ankle and a leash on my neck.  Maybe it stems from an old job I had as a plant mechanic at a pvc plant and I was on call every third weekend.  Man I hated those weekends and hated that pager.  Reconsider before you go to the dark side -- and pay for it at that -- just my opinion.

Oh, the two times I used a phone was once at a good guys show I blew a power steering hose on the hemi, had a slight fire, and called a flatbed before I just took the belt off and limped the car home (good thing hemis have a belt that only goes to the power steering pump) and the second time was on an Amtrak train that ended up so late my girlfriend and I had to get off in the middle of Oregon and, from the train, we needed to make sure the town we got off in had a rental car place that was open.  Kim

We have everything through Verizon including long distance on our hard line and a incoming fax line with a separate number, DSL, 4 cells and plenty of minutes for all. It seems a bit pricey to me, but is much cheaper than BEFORE the long distance plan.

Very few and infrequent problems with Verizon also.
