This is something that I've thought about for a long time.    I've never seen one that works or keeps the correct time in a Charger, EVER !
So how many of you guys have one that truely works as it should ? ORIGINAL,  NOT THE REBUILT QUARTZ ONES...
Just a thought. ????

Not many by this age.  They operate by winding down until a small set of points contacts and then it closes the electric circuit for a moment to cause the thing to rewind.  The points start to "fry" together over time just like the points in an old ignition system.

Not really into time.  I've got vacuum gauges on the consoles.  They work just fine.

Those old clocks are why you gotta disconnect your battery.

I tossed the tic toc tac for a RbyJ (ie: Redline) tach.   I'm much happier that I can see the tach clearly.
I plan on doing the same for Sinnamon... I wear a watch anyhow.

My one 66 Charger clock still works....OE, but runs a little slow
The one in the Daytona, (70 OE clock), still works and keeps great time
Our other 66 I had converted to battery movement that takes a "N" battery in the housing

so all 3 of mine are working

Charger-Bodie

Im having modern guts put in mine, so hopfully it will work well when its done.
68 Charger R/t white with black v/t and red tailstripe. 440 4 speed ,black interior
68 383 auto with a/c and power windows. Now 440 4 speed jj1 gold black interior .
My Charger is a hybrid car, it burns gas and rubber............

Nacho-RT74

the one I got with the rallye cluster wasn't working... fixed but keeping burning time after time. Maybe points getting stuck made to burn the solenoid coils wires reaching the point tabs

got an used replacement, is in working order and still nowdays

The original standart cluster my car got didn't got clock, but found one from a 71. need just oil and voila, working. I gues sstill now if I connect it.

on 3rd gens standart cluster clocks seem to be better quality than rallye cluster units by what I have detailed when dissasembling for oiling and general mantenience.
Venezuelan RT 74 400 4bbl, 727, 8.75 3.23 open. Now stroked with 440 crank and 3.55 SG. Here is the History and how is actually: http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,7603.0/all.html

I had a cluster from an E-Body laying around (already sold it to a member on here a few months back)

I guess it wasnt in the car very long as if i remember correctly the mileage was fairly low.

Either way i hooked up 12v to the clock and had it running...kept time just fine  :icon_smile_big:

SFRT

I replaced mine with one of those Restos by Julius MSD6 friendly tachs that looks like the original one.

Converted all mine to quartz, work good and keep good time with minimal battery drain.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

mine never worked !! well conect it up & the second hand done an impression of  an old alitimeter gauge in a plane that was diving from 20 thousand feet out of control !!
got a repoped tic toc tac in there now  :yesnod:

Mine is set at 4.46 (get it, 440 6 pack) and has been correct 2 times every 24 hours for 15 years.

Mine works, but the stem is broke off, so the time is wrong.  :-\

I hope to replace with a Tic Toc Tach.

Good Idea! Too simple, probably why I never thought of it.  :scratchchin:

Mine works. I bought an nos clock for a thunderbird (Don't remember which year) for about $5 on ebay. I gutted the clock and put it in my tic-toc-tach. It works great now. Most clocks of that era use the same borg movement and they can be swapped with minor terminal modifications.

TexasStroker

Mine is functional, keeps good time and then will decide to quit and come back...can't complain for the age.

Bryan isn't there an adjustment for the too fast - too slow thing in the owners manual? I know it's in some 66 literature.

I got mine to work by lightly blowing it out with compressed air. Then I used a little bit of sewing machine oil on the moving parts. Doesn't keep time worth a sh!t.  :popcrn:

yea, there is..you have to turn the time back or ahead to what it's supposed to be..and it's supposed to regulate it internally...but the one in the cream 66 don't work for the regulation. For the regulation to work, I have found the time must be at least 30 minutes off...5 or 10 minutes won't move the internal regulator enough

Clock works and keeps good time for about a day..it's not like we drive the car every day anyway.

The "adjustment" feature worked just fine on the Daytona....

Go quartz or set it for Happy Hour...5pm somewhere!

The one in my '68 worked until the mid '90's and then stopped. The '69 never worked.

I just use my cellphone for the time and don't like wrist watches.
