Is there a way to make photos bigger without them digitizing? (making them blurry) I thought there was a website or program you could do that on. :shruggy:

My Dad taught me about TIME TRAVEL.

I don't think so. The only programs I know of that'll do that are the ones used in the movies that take place in like, 2043.

I think there are but they use programs to enhance the individual pixels. Though not pedestrian stuff, I'm sure you'r typical Photo Recon. expert would know about them,.. Magnum for example.

I would think the programs would have to "speculate" on what goes in the empty spaces based on the information from the surrounding pixels or maybe stretch what's already there. What do I know.

Yeah, it's a lot easier to shrink than to expand (lose detail vs adding it). That's why I always shoot all my pictures at the highest resolution possible. The best the software can do when enlarging a picture is to "guess" at what color should go in the missing spots and try to blend it in. Some software will not even guess but just make each pixel bigger - which gives you those jagged edges.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

Actually 2019. Deckard's ESPER computer in Blade Runner allowed him to zoom in and even look behind objects in the pic.

Yes, I'm a Blade Runner nerd.

It's one of my favorites. As an LA native I was always fascinated by how it portrayed the city "in the future". It's interesting how some of those things are reality now...like going to the garment district in downtown and hearing a Korean guy trying to sell you something...in perfect Spanish.

Funny, as I was writing the above response I thought of that machine he used and started reading up on Blade Runner. That's when I discovered that some of the costumes used in the film are on display at the Sci-fi museum in Seattle. :o I'm planning a visit to Seattle in the near future.

Anyway, I don't think ESPER enabled him to look behind anything but he did see, and enhance, a reflection in an object that showed what was behind something. I mean, if we're going to nerd out on this we might as well go all the way.

minority report  :shruggy:

Didn't think it was all that great. Philip K Dick's books/short stories are extremely hard to adapt to film and they have hardly ever been successfully pulled off - (Total Recall, Minority Report, A Scanner Darkly, etc) . Even Blade Runner went through a ton of rewrites and re-conceptualizations before it could be filmed and the film's plot and bears little resemblance to the book (though Dick did approve of it in the end).

The BBC supposed to be doing a mini-series based on "The Man in the High Castle", and Ridley Scott is involved.  :2thumbs:

You could save money & not buy any program at all. Just stand closer to whatever you're taking a picture of, or put it next to something smaller. Or even like making your friend look bigger by playing with distance, or putting your matchbox car in front of a real house, or the famous hunters that killed a giant squirrel.

Yeah, I guess TR was ok (typical Arnold flick). But it was also almost completely different than original story.

I liked how their eyes bulged out in that scene near the end and then once the Martian atmosphere was oxygenated they went back inside their heads and it was like nothing happened. Totally realistic. :D

The three-breasted woman though. I could see a lot of advantages to that deal. Oh, and the airport full body x-ray scanner is now a reality thanks to the TSA.

This is what I love about this site. The most innocuous threads can turn into a 10-page tangent at a moment's notice.

this has to be one of the most awesome thread hijacks ever. :2thumbs:
