Are all the door guts installed? I like to put any stripes on way after everything is put together and final adjusted.

Awesome looking Charger, thanks for sharing the pics and story....  Keep the pics coming  :2thumbs:

Great story nice to see another saved, where in VT are you ,Im in Albany NY,cant wait for spring show season to see it.

greasyspider

I'm in the NEK.  I doubt it'll be ready for show by spring.  I only have about 6 hours per week to work on it right now.  It doesn't sound like much but I seem to be getting more done when I'm crunched for time.  Plus it keeps me interested.  I look forward to working on it each week, even if little progress is made.

This was what I did this week:

It doesn't seem like much for 6 hours, but consider that 2 were spent figuring out how the front bumper goes back together, 1 was spent on this forum looking for pics of how it goes together, and 1 spent actually putting it together....the other 2 were spent hanging the exhaust and mounting the light buckets  :icon_smile_big:

Anyone have any good solutions for stripping paint from a radiator?

Have you thought about paint stripper?

greasyspider

I had, but I wasn't sure if it would be too caustic.  Any recommendations?

Well, I got the radiator stripped, painted, installed along with a whole bunch of other stuff that has disappeared from my phone... :icon_smile_dissapprove:  I am still waiting on the dash harness, before the dash can go in, but I did paint the frame.  I also had the pad recovered in vinyl.  It only cost $100 bucks and it looks better than awesome!

Anywho- The car is finally home!  Today, I got the bumper and grilles installed!  Should be smooth sailing from here!

My wife got me a bubble for christmas.  While it is kind of a PITA to use (not an everyday cover) it does work great for keeping kids and rodents and miscellaneous objects  falling from the loft overhead from actually touching the car...(don't ask)

Oh I almost forgot!  A year ago, I sent a packet of info along with a check to Galen Govier for a registry letter and decoding.  This was before I knew anything about the drama.  After the check getting lost, Diane sending my info to the wrong address and several (hundred) unreturned phone calls, this showed up in the mail the other day:

Not sure how much value there is in this info, but it is still nice knowing....

Wow, I am glad he mentioned everything about the 2 door hardtops, as opposed to 4 door softtops.

I don't quite understand what "#54 of 128 in the vin sequence" means...Are there more cars like this in a different sequence?  And if so, who the hell cares then?

Does anyone have any motivation I can borrow?

Keep at it Spider! It is looking fantastic and your patience and skill is rewarding. I know the setbacks get you but walk away for a couple of weeks and go back. About 6 years ago my son and I started a 3 year resto on our old Charger. Many times I wanted to get out the BAR and let loose but didn't, just walked away. Then a week or month later something would click and we would move another little bit. In the words of that great American philospoher Larry the Cable Guy, GitRDone!

That 71 is beautiful

Dammit, I clicked this hoping to see more progress pictures!  :slap: :icon_smile_big:

I think what he means is that 128 of the 1971 440-4bbl R/Ts built at Lynch Road are accounted for in his registry, and if you list them in order of VIN, yours is the 54th on that list. I'm not sure how meaningful that is without knowing the total number produced at Lynch Road, Los Angeles, and St. Louis, but at least it sounds impressive.

Love the car, BTW. Great job!  :2thumbs:

Thanks guys!  I should have some more pics up soon.  I am currently screwing around trying to figure out how exactly wires are routed, and still scrounging around for correct bolts.  Yesterday, I hooked up the evap canister with new rubber lines, put some new speakers and package tray in as well as the rear divider.  The whole thing has slowed to a crawl as I am waiting for a dash harness still.....(backordered...)
