Has anyone purchased the re-pop outside mirrors?
I was concerned about the quality as some of the other chrome pieces I purchased for my 67 were junk.
I bought door handles which broke in less that a season.
Anyway, if so, who has the good ones etc.  Or are the originals worth have rechromed?   :shruggy:

Bob,
At Carlisle this year I checked out some of the aftermarket 3rd gen (74) mirrors and I was very impressed. Very very pricey but nice.

purchased 73/74 charger sports mirrors from PJ classics and have no complaints - very solid.

NHCharger

Bought a driver side mirror for my 71 from BEA. Very very pleased with the fit and finish. Was about $210.00 including shipping. Getting the original re-chromed would be at least $100.00, plus the company wanted the mirror and controls cables removed.

Though I have not purchased a mirror as in the question, I do want to add that re-chroming may be more trouble than it's worth.  I had mine rechromed and because of the pot metal, they were unable to get the body of the mirror perfect.  I now have a bubble under the chrome...and this is after about 12 attempts at the chrome shop.  This guy does chrome for really high dollar restorations and thus knows what he is doing...it's just the luck of the draw and I've drawn the short straw with this mirror.

was there a remote passenger mirror for third gens?

I picked this up.

I have found it a pain to adjust and keep adjusted a passenger mirror, especially the non-shrouded ones that keep getting out of place.

I need to closely compare its shape to my 74s driver side mirror.  If it is pretty close I am going to use it.
Any hints on how the cable routes and the bezel install?

That is not for a Charger.  Note the way it attaches.  Third gen mirrors have screws and the plate that goes inside the door.
Give me the part number stamped on it and I can tell you what it belongs to.

75 and lates Chargers/Cordobas are in that way. They were remoted on both sides.

works but the cup sits closer to the top door trim. Pedestal is a little bit shorter. Needs extra holes on door AND uses a back plate reinforcement inside the door

Passenger wire is designed to mount the control underneath the ashtray and wires have the grommets and covers to run from door to kick area panel

Now, that wire looks shorter to me than 75 and lates B bodies to fit the joystick underneath the dash ashtray. Maybe another body, but is a fact 75 and lates were optioned with wires on passenger side and pedestal is that one. A friend of mine down here got lates kind on ebay and I helped to mount on his 74.

Yep, thinks its a 75 up base.

Parts numbers..

the body looks the same, glass etched 1H1G.

cable is about 7 feet long.

Maybe I can find a base from a pretty trashed mirror, put that base on the body, then run this and be able  to use my remote, I can find someplace to mount it.

Anyone gotz some extra screws for the third gen mirrors? I went to put mine on this time home and could not find them (the body shop took em off...), looked in the unused parts boxes, and came up empty  :icon_smile_dissapprove:
