Gratuitous shots of the Pink! Show and Go Resto

After much thought and deliberation, I thought I'd put together a comprehensive photo documentation thread on this FM3 1970 Dodge Charger R/T, since it is now done, and in fact....sold to a new owner!

I had the opportunity to go to Red Deer, Alberta this past August, and finally got to sit in - and start - this magnificent machine.
And of course, my friend Kori Alexander was the tour guide as we made our way through the maze of Mopar that is his shop, and the "vault" of Hemi Chargers that seem to be scattered everywhere you look! In fact, in addition to this Panther Pink R/T, there were two 1969 Hemi Chargers, a 1966 Hemi Charger, another FM3 Charger (a 500) and NUMEROUS Sixpack cars, hi-po big blocks and 340 cars, all undergoing restoration and improvements courtesy of Mr. Alexander!

In the beginning....there was this!
Pretty gross!
The new owner, Tom S, bought this car out of Spokane Washington several years ago.
As is the norm, the Paint and Body were done by a preferred and experienced bodyshop, in this case it was Northstar Paint and Body in Stettler, Alberta.

After being stripped to a shell by Kori, it was placed on dollies and sent off for a complete do-over.
Not a lot of "bodyshop" pics unfortunately!

After a period of time had passed, a very eager Tom decided he wanted to have the car completed. Knowing Tom, he probably needed the room in his garage for another project!
So, Kori was handed the Charger back to his capable hands and given the task of making a perfect Charger out of an extremely nice body and a whole lot of worn out parts!

This just happened to coincide with Kori opening his new shop....and taking on a whole lot of work!

Oh, you're welcome. But this is just the tip of the pink iceburg!!
Onwards with the pictoral.

The details. The devil is in 'em, isn't it?
And to properly provide the correct details, you better know your stuff. Guys like Tom S are businessmen, and pay to have cars like this Charger done EXACTLY the way they should be, ie: factory original appearance.
Kori makes his living putting these cars right. And you might be surprised to see what it takes to do that!
(PS: I can't do it!)

And the engine goes in the chassis just as it was at the factory; from the bottom, as an assembly.
It is no surprise that this engine is a fresh rebuild too, and I can attest that it idles like a real 440 Magnum should!

There is actually a lot to see under the car, which seems to be the place where the Judges live at major events!
I'm guessing Kori spends a lot of time on his back...which explains the cushy carpet under this car when it was in his shop...

And yes, that is REAL cosmoline on those lower control arms!

You might see the replicated drips on the torsion bars if you look closely.

After months and months (years?) of assembly time, eventually there comes a time when all that is left is to see if it does what it's supposed to to....RUN!

It's so sad when they grow up and leave "home"!!

A night at the local cruise-in, and the crowds love it!

Unfortunately, it does bear a very strong resemblance to a previous Show and Go restoration, that of another more infamous FM3....the Sixpack car reputed to be the highest optioned FM3 Charger ever built, and formerly owned by Peter S, another prominent Mopar collector in Red Deer.

And then, after the fuss is over, the serious business begins. That of testing it as a chick magnet!

And in this case, Kori's friend Roxann kindly steps up to the plate to take that position of Charger Chick!

Well, if you're going to shoot a 'Chick on Charger' session, you might want to take as many pictures as you can!

After having his fun as a pinup photographer, Kori changes his hat (yet again) and does his business as an automotive photographer.
A few of these pictures are for his personal scrapbook, and others are used for advertising, both for the car and for his business.

I think he really, really likes his job!
