Bonjour Quentin, bienvenue à la forum. Enfin, la chance de pratiquer mon français. Je suis americain, recentement retire de Chrysler.Je pense que c'est moi qui est quelqu'un qui possede une troisieme generation charger et peut parler un peu de francais. j'ai travaille a AMC/RENAULT, il y a 25 ans, et  depuis, je n'ai pas parle le Francais du tout. Je conduis un 1973 Charger SE, avec seulement 17,000 miles, et une AMC Pacer avec 30 k. Quand j'ai travaille a Renault,  j'ai conduise un Renault 18, et 42. quelques voitures tres uniques. SVP excusez mon mauvais Francais.c'est bien a faire de votre connaissance

Hello Franck. Your french is good for an "non french guy" a lot of people told me that it's a very difficult laguage.

By Renault 42, you mean Renault 12 I think, don't you? These cars have been very common in France during the 80's-90's.
It makes me smile when I put myself in you shoes : "A french guy interested in Chargers? They're plenty here."
But in France when I see one of these beauties, I write a cross in my calendar!

I'm glad to "meet" you too.

PS : I'm sorry for my school english too. But chat with the chargermen will increase my familiar vocabulary!

I am glad you were able to understand me. (I did not use Google translator, my French comes from my head). You are probably right about the R 42,
the car that I drove was the Renault built here in USA. we called it the Alliance / Encore, mine was a 1984 model. it was a good car, great fuel economy, drove well in the snow, drove it for 8 years. I was in Poland last September, saw some American classic cars there as well. A friend of mine owns a dealership that sells classic muscle cars, he says that the majority of his sales are to Europe and the Middle East.

Welcome to the site. I failed my high school French class nearly a decade ago so I will not embarrass myself by trying to type this in French. I know how difficult it is to get to see a nice American car while in Europe; for the next 2 years my job has me near Seville Spain, while my 1972 Charger sits in the U.S. Although, I am starting to get into some European car culture, I have spent the last few weeks fixing (cursing, yelling, and bleeding over) my friend's 1987 R5.  :cheers: It reminds me of my high school days trying to the the Charger running. So don't worry about not working on a Charger right now, a car is a car, and the more practice and knowledge you gain now will make working on your first Charger easier and more enjoyable.

The R5 parts (like doors and simple body parts) starts to be rare, even in France. A friend has one R5 turbo, one R5 Turbo 2, a lot of Super5 GT Turbo, one R8 Gordini... A real Renault lover.

One your last point, I think exactly like you : all the things I could learn on each car I fixed is a knowledge written in my brain!

And I'm still at "school" I'll look for a Charger when I'll have enough money! But I don't give up, I'm going to do my training period in a garage which import American cars and parts. Maybe I'll have it earlier that I think!

Hello everybody,

I just wanted to say that I began my training period last week. I work in a us-cars garage near my town. I work on Mustang, Corvette, Duster but I have not seen one Charger for the moment...  :-\

I'll give you some pics soon!

I am glad to hear that you are getting your hands on some American cars. I have a question for you, do you know of a website/store that sells parts for a 1989 Renault 5, spesificaly the manual choke cable and carbruator rebuild kit, and will ship to Spain or the US? I am working on my coworker's R5 here in Spain, and so far I got it from maxing out at  :hah: 80 Kpm to over 140 Kpm :eek:!

J'habite pas loin de Montreal est la moitie de mon journee est en francais. I am a new member too. I just bought a 1966 Charger, mainly because I like the lines and never see any around here. J'ai les amis avec la meme passion que moi mais ils ont les mustang/camaro/trans am etc. I went on a 6 week student exchange to Bandol and Ile de Bendor about 30 years ago. We also visited Paris, Marseille and Monaco. Je vous souhaite bienvenue a ce site. It's full of people who love Chargers and are ready to help and exchange information with people who share the same hobby/passion. Bonne chance en trouvant un Charger. Ca me prennais les annee pour avoir assez de l'argent pour
achetez un. You are lucky to be working on Mustangs/Corvettes/Dusters.

now the general got a Hemi from barton and the r/t had been restored in 2009 and is brand new!

Hi everyone,

after reading and reading your threads, I think I'm ready to own a Charger.
Now I have a steady job, I put money aside but the problem is that I don't know where to start!
I'm checking eBay Motors everyday but I don't know any other site. (If you've got good adresses I'll take!)
I stop my searches in France because I never found one and I didn't create a new post in the "Cars wanted" forum. (I prefer to feed this post for the moment)

A friend advised me to subscribe to Hemmings. Is it a good first step?

Hemmings is alright, you can even find deals on Craigslist.org, but I imagine the best thing you could do with craigslist would be to try to get someone to go look at the car before you try to make a deal. Craigslist can and does tend to have a lot of scammers involved.

I would say it's not going to add value to a classic Charger. Things like engine/trans combinations or base model or R/T will add value as well as condition but I wouldn't expect to have to pay more for power windows and disc brakes. I already drove a Mustang with drum brakes and w/o brakes assistance, are the stock drum brakes Chargers in the same configuration?
Because it was funny to put the accelerator pedal to the metal in the Ford but when it is the brakes pedal, it's less fun!

I was born and raised in Belgium but the north part, Flanders, where Dutch is the common language.  I have not spoken French in many years and would probably not do the language justice right now.  :icon_smile_big:

Since I've been in the US for a while now I'll just stick to English if you don't mind.

There are a lot of mopars in France and the low countries so here's hoping you'll find your dream car soon!

It would be easier only because drum brakes are more common. Let's just say I wouldn't pass over a drum brake Charger in search of one with disc brakes because chances are you'd be doing a lot of looking. There are many disc conversions and it's quite possible than when you find a Charger the conversion will have already been done. Not sure the power/manual brake ratio but I'd be willing to bet there are more power brake equipped Chargers than non power. I'm actually going to go with manual dics brakes on my car.
