That sounds logical, but when I was talking to Hans back in 2008 he was sending me pictures of WB taking a trailer load of his cars back to the set and that "most of the cars used in the movie were his".

Then again, we know that 99.9% of what came out of his mouth was crap, so...

Hey

Hans or Halpag ,whatever you want to call them sold the movie guys 7 chargers and they where , #s 14 thru 20  , they where rough , some where wearing gl paint schemes , but they where all gone thru and redone for the 2005 movie , that is all they did , after the movie , Hans starting claiming other cars on his lot where movie used and i know of a couple people who got caught out thinking there where buying a screen used movie GL , but they didn't all they got was a shoddy replica off there lot .
Is Hans still selling bondo buckets ???

Hans is a complete crook.  Textbook case.  It's like buying an old car from Boss Hogg himself.

He survives purely by suckering in new people who are too inexperienced with old cars to know any better.  He does not even make an attempt to keep a respectable name among the informed/connected old car hobby.

WB General Lee

Did Hans paint them up to look like the GLs to sell them or was he building replicas already? Here are some pictures of the items on my car. I really liked the #20 but it was beat up. I was a little bored today woke up early ::)

You're buddy is a lucky guy I never heard of that.  Were they Chargers? They must have been for the TV show I am guessing. Did he get a Warner Brothers title?

That is really cool. I loved that highway jump! Is he keeping then in the condition he got them back? I was surprized when you said they were in Warner Brothers name because there were only three cars in the history of the show.

What I just noticed yesterday was on the door behind stunt 1 is the number2. This door must have been on two cars.

The launch car was not drivable when he got it back , he has since done enought work to make it drive on and off the trailer for display .  His other car was mostly used in the race scene at the end of the movie and is pretty nice .  Some of the interior was missing when he went to go pick them up so he had to scrounge around the lot looking for interior pieces .

Hans runs his business by making crappy GL replicas and selling them to uninformed enthusiastic Dukes fans who don't know better.  GLs aren't the only cars that he does but he builds a lot of them.

It sounds like I have a huge grudge against the guy when I say it this way, but I'm really not exaggerating it one bit.  What he does is simply that blatant.  I have never personally dealt with him in my life, my only grudge is from seeing what he has done to others.

He sold WB a batch of cars for the movie in the fall of 2004 and I recall several of them already had GL paintjobs.

When he was selling some a while back he took pics of the car and then sent the buyer a different POS.

I know someone who that personally happened to.. The issue was resolved, but it took someone going there and paying Hans a visit.

Hey

Barton 2nd car was never used in the movie at all , it sat on the lot , he redid it as a movie car once he got it back , this HAS been covered before !! , there where two freeway jump cars , Travis from La  owned the 2nd one for a while, before he sold it to volo  ,Randy from MCG , brought the pre cooter sling charger that jumped the river at the beginning of the 2005 movie , it too went to volo .

WB General Lee

That is interesting K.c. So they were kinda used as parts cars or back up cars in case needed?

CornDogsCharger

K.C and I have followed every one of these cars since they were used in the 2005 movie.  I was fortunate enough to spend quite a bit of time on the production lot during the movie.  As K.C. said... Barton's nicer General of the two has absolutely no claim to fame other than it was sold to WB for the movie, sat on the lot, had a few parts removed from it while it sat, had NO work done to it while it was there, but was autographed by a few members of the transportation dept and then sold back to him...... that's it.  I don't know why he likes to pass the car off as something that it isn't.  If I'm not mistaken, I think he was claiming the car to be the "courthouse car" or something to that effect.  I'm not trying to talk bad about the guy, I don't even know him.  I just don't understand why he can't be happy with one movie car.  He knows that his other car is a fake.

This is direct from Mopar Collectors Guide Aug 2005 pg. 147-148:

"General #127 was sent down for the movie by enthusiast Everett Barton of Kansas.  An older General Lee clone, it was converted to a sling car by the FX department and used in the catapult scene where the General is launched onto the highway.  #127 was "thrown" just after #15 made its flight onto the highway, but #127 had a bit of bad luck and smashed into the highway guardrail.  Still, it made the big jump, so it exists as the only privately owned General Lee used in the movie as a major jump car.  #127 will be easily identified in future years as most of the crew in the FX department signed it for Barton on the underside of its deck lid."

"General #126 was another car sent down by Everett Barton of Kansas for the film.  Also an older General Lee clone, it bore the signature of many of the original series' stars, including John Schneider's, Tom Wopat's, Ben Jones, and others.  This one belonged to Barton and was initially considered for some close-up work, but two things prevented it from ever leaving the transportation lot.  Powered by a 440 Six Pack motor, the Charger ran strong but had serious rust problems, the interior wasn't too good, and the old General Lee paint was faded so it would need a complete make over.  The bigger factor in not using the car, however, lay in the fact that it was an original R/T SE '69 Charger with a heavy option list!  It had even been a stripe delete car and had the big metal R/T emblems on it's quarters prior to arriving in Baton Rouge.  The transportation guys couldn't bring themselves to mess with a legit R/T SE, so this one sat under the canopy behind the service bays throughout filming and didn't leave the lot until Mr. Barton picked it up in January.  It left Baton Rouge looking just as it had when it arrived and wasn't used in filming."

Here are pictures I took of #126 on one of the last days of filming 1-30-05

Here I am with #127 shortly after it was launched on the interstate.
