My '66 Charger has been cranking up fine until last week.  Earlier this year I replaced the dash harness as well as the engine/forward harness.  The car sat for about 2 weeks without been cranked.  I cranked it up and been cold-natured like it is, it ran for a few seconds and then died (not out of the ordinary).  I went to crank it again..... nothing.  Since I always disconnect the battery while it is parked I made sure the cables were tight.  Still nothing.  I figured something was wrong with the starter relay, so I replaced it with a new Standard relay.  Went to crank it... nothing.  So now I'm thinking something is wrong with the ignition switch.  I decided to bypass the Ign switch and jump the BAT and SOL on the relay with a screwdriver.... still... NOTHING.  So what does it sound like??  Starter solenoid?  Please help!

the reason why engine shutted off has nothing to do with starter motor. However will fix first the cranking deal.

check starter wires underneath the car, and jump directly there. If not crank, will need to check starter motor. I'm toward to motor solenoid fail

Then, for a while you are working on that, check if you get trigger signal at yellow wire arriving to starter relay when trying to crank from ign switch

check for voltage at ballast with ign switch in RUN

If what Nacho says doesnt fix it, and you are getting power to the starter solenoid, try smacking that starter with a hammer while someone is holding the key to start. May just have a stuck bendix.
