i bought a pushrod length tool. how do i set it?

do i set it to zero on the lifter or push the plunger down a little bit?

i have it mocked up right now and the lifter is not full of oil, dry inside.

You want the Plunger in the Hydraulic Lifter down, or "compressed" about .030" from the top where it normally rests uncompressed against the snap ring at the top.

so measure it with the plunger at the top, then add .030 to the length.

thanks.
