I have a 74 charger 318 auto. I just put an air gap intake from summit i cant seem to find a kick down for the trans. I have thought of getting another trans since the one i have is starting to slip ( sit for 3 years ). If i get a new trans can i get one with a cable kick down and what would is the pros and cons of a cable kick down to a rod kick down.

Thanks

John_Kunkel

A transmission is seldom supplied with a cable kickdown but they can be purchased from several sources.

I would avoid the popular but generic Lokar in favor of the Bouchillon which is made for Mopars.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

do you know were i could just get the regular kick down for a airgap intake summit brand with a holley carb?

was that names of trans with the cable kick downs?

mauve66

the cable kickdown is just a replacement for the mechanical linkage kickdown used on the same trans, any trans can have a cable kickdown put on it

Is the cable kick down better then the mechanical kick down witch is more reliable?

Thanks for the help again guys

Not "better", just sometimes the only alternative with some manifold/carb combos.

If you don't have the fabrications skills to make custon mechanical linkage, the cable is often the easiest/cheapest way to go.
