Electric fuel pump vibration..........>>>>>

Well, the "69 is on the road, but the fuel pump is way past annoying and is closer to torture.

Not so much at highway speeds, but God forbid you have to stop for any reason.

How did you guys running electric fuel pumps isolate them to minimize vibration noise?

Especially fuel pressure regulators?

I've got a Holley blue line pump and it's mounted on the frame rail past the rear axle.

The regulator is mounted to the firewall.

Not quite sure why the shop put it there, but that's where it is.

I'm thinking along the lines of a homemade rubber gasket/isolator.

As always, any tips/hints are greatly appreciated.

Uhhh yeah Holley pumps make a ton of noise never found a way to make them quiet , rubber isolator make little difference , A real Good stereo will help !!

Don't have a stereo.  

Well, I have a non-functioning 37 yr old AM radio.

Looks like the stereo is gonna be headin' up the list of priorities.

Rubber isolators will help.....1/4in piece of rubber between the bracket and framerail does the trick. The Mallory pump is a LOT quieter than the Holley, fwiw. This is why i prefer to run a mechanical on the street. OK Johnny....time for the 200w stereo !

i have the holley pump on mine,and i agree it vibrates like a bastard.i took an old bicycle tire,cut 2 2 inch long pieces out of it,and used the rubber isolaters,that keeps it quit enough at any speed above idle,and then i turn up the cd player !

I have a holley red electric and the noise is not that bad. Can only hear it somewhat at idle. What I did was go to the help section at the parts store and bought some windshield wiper bushings and took the metal inserts out so it is just rubber. I don't remember if I used rubber on the other side as well. I used a short piece of rubber fuel line on each side of the pump to minimize vibration. Then I covered the hose barbs with heater hose because they were making noise from vibrating against the floor pan. I also wrapped rubber hose over a few bends on the hard line that were vibrating. If there is something wrong with your charging system the holley pumps will make alot of noise if the current is fluctating.

Blue, I definitely have some fluctuations, so that's probably not helping.

I'll give the wiper bushing trick a try.

The pump is bearable, but the pump and regulator together will drive you mad.

Ron, definitely gotta get the stereo!

Need to track down the countless rattles first though.

The blasted package tray is plywood, thanks to the PO, so that's outta there ASAP, but that's for another section.
