Been looking for a car for some time now and either too much money for not enough car or too much car and not enough money. Anyway found this one thats about 5 hours. Would like your guys opinions. Its a slap tick auto and 340v8. Was originally a 318 car. They have now put up images of the underside. What are your thoughts, I am seriously thinking of taking a drive!
Thanks,
Will

Original 318 car with a 340 in it, non correct seats....I personally wouldn't pay $22,000 for it. $18,000 at most? :Twocents:

10,000 maybe 12. Who says it isn't full of cheese? The only way to find out is to go see it.

Haven't heard that one for quite a while!

I don't like it when they paint the engine compartment black.  :eek2: Everything looks good from 20' but there are far to few pics and they are all low rez.

Five hour drive (one way or total) I would take the drive if your seriously considering it. If you don't want to do it twice then bring cash and drive down with a trailer (rentals are like $50 a day?). Get them to take high rez pics of specific areas of the car and send them to you. Might save you the trouble.

Well, its 5 hr drive one way. I dont have a vehicle that would pull the car if I were to trailer it. The engine, 340's were in what? What could those seats be out of and the slap stick, they were never in chargers were they? I have been looking for a nice driver for about 5 years now not wanting inport a car from the states (toom uch hassle) and 1 or 2 come up a year so I might have to settle. I see it now hit ebay Canada with no bids and starting at 15K. Hmmmm? Keep you thoughts coming.

Importing an old car is a piece of cake just buy it out of a state that does not require older cars to be titled. I got mine out of Nh and anything older than 93 no title required. Got a registration card and cleear saling.

You could save a little more and drive a little further. Never seen this car but it looks sweet.

Definately a hard price range to buy in. When i was looking for one it seemed the drivers in 15-20k range really needed the same amount of work as my 5K project. Usually alot of patches and bondo. Hard to come buy a solid driver at 20k up here in canada where everything is more expensive to start with.

What is this 'rare slap stick' that they speak of, in a '69? Those quarters look to me like there was some scuplting done, probably in bondo, but that could be just the pics. 22K seems WAY high, IMO. (like about 10K too high!)

The thing that drew me to it was that in an earlier ad, they said it was owned by by the same mechanic for 13 years and was originally from Florida. Thoughts?

souinds like a used car dealer line to me. I know a guy that got a 67 mustang that came from california at some point. Blew the 289 and has a shortblock from a 5L mustang. He bought it from a dealer in ottawa and then traded it in to a dealer here in quebec. This dealer is now advertising it as all original 2 owner car!!

Where are you located?

Maybe you want to check this one out

I would check out the one in Ottawa. Look at very closely and see what kind of deal could be made. Bring someone with you ,for another pair of eyes and to keep you grounded,So you don't do anything you'll regret later. That was the thing I should have done,I went on my own and I should have had someone who knew what to look for. But you live and learn,I had to do more work and spend a little more money ,but I have a solid car now. :2thumbs:

Goodolboy

That car is only 45min from me, (blue 70) I live near Ottawa. I'll tell you, if that were a 69, I would be all over that like a fat kid on a smartie! That black RT is very nice but dang, I couldn't see my self getting in that deep, even I they were to deal down to like 35K.
Thanks for letting me know about it though.

   that car is  junk  :o     ont canada

Look at the picture of the inside of the rear quarter.  Lots of rot was there, something to consider.  The inner side is not flush with the bondo outside panel.
No one has money.  make sure it's a great deal.
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

Goodolboy

Thanks for all your help with finding nice driver. 1969ChargerRT/SE, do you are anybody else have a shot of what that area of the lower quarter looks like on a solid car? BTW, he dropped his price ti 21K but I have gotten some good advise here and am going to keep looking.
Thanks,
Will

Here's a picture from the 70 V code charger thread.  See how the inner panel meets flush with the outside rear quarter panel, even all the way at the bottom?
