I really like KORN - ANOTHER BRICK IN THE WALL  :2thumbs:

Never heard that before, which is surprizing cause my oldest son likes Korn.

There was a better remake of "Another Brick in the Wall part 2" around 1999 for the movie "The Faculty" with Layne Staley on vocals. I believe it was the last song he recorded.

My top favorite is SRV's Voodoo Child......really anything he covered. Real Big Fish did a great cover of "Take on Me".  :2thumbs:

Yep, true Legend. Is 20 years this Friday since SRV died in the helicopter crash.
I know which cd's I'll have out that day

Some remakes are so good, the original is all but forgotten. My favorite example is the Rascals' Good Lovin'. I don't think I've ever heard the orginal by the Olympics. It was covered again by the Grateful Dead, but paled in comparison with the version by the Rascals.

I think a guy who uses the latest improvements to copy someone's material be it Jimi learning Howling Wolf's chops or SRV copping Jimi's Little Wing, isn't really fair to compare.
listening to some of these examples are interesting but I don't think they are actually better. but, that's just my feeling.

A hundred, one to do it and ninety nine to say "I could do that"!  ;D

Slayer's version of "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" originally by Iron Butterfly.
Flotsam and Jetsam "saturday night's alright for fighting" originally by Elton John.
Disturbed version of "shout" originally by Tears for fears.
Spiderbait's version of "Black Betty" (cool video) originally by the Ram Jam (which is cool too)

Did you know that when I was in L.A. in the early '80s i was asked over and over to play that solo...
i couldn't do it then or now, i never tried to copy anyone else, only played a few covers with the band and really got tired of them solos after just a few times. I was far off into Jazz, Funk and Fusion.
In LA i used to tell folks "If you want to hear me play just like the record, go home and listen to the damn record!"
the only solos i ever really liked covering was the one in "Slide" by Slave and the Isley Bros. and Little Wing.

of course I came from a decidedly more R&B background then most the folks here...
