G'Day from Australia.

Look guys i was hoping some of you mopar fans would be able to help me with some info on the 360 roller motor that was the interim motor between the LA flat tappet and the magnum.  I have the opportunity to buy one of these motors over here in Australia.  What i need to know is.....

*This motor is a chrysler re manufactured one.  Did they usually do a good job?

*Are parts hard to get hold of?

*The most important one Are they strong and do they respond well to performance mods?

Any info or help with this will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers Jim

come on guys there isnt much info on these motors over here.  All and any info would be great. .......Please....

Troy

I have a Magnum so most of my research has been on the newer models. However, I haven't really seen/heard/read anything bad about the previous motors. The roller cams are nice. I don't think there's much difference other than that so you're dealing with a motor with a long and productive history. The thing to remember is that these were truck engines and designed for EFI so the cams and compression were spec'd accordingly.

I haven't had any dealings with Chrysler rebuilds.

Parts are easy to get - at least here - and cheaper than the equivalent Magnum pieces.

As far as I know, they respond well to modifications. A popular upgrade is to convert to Magnum heads since they flow great out of the box and are cheap. You'll also want to change the cam if you're running a carb but roller stuff isn't nearly as cheap as the earlier parts. An intake and headers will go a pretty long way.

Unfortunately, there aren't a whole lot of guys on this site who are really into the small blocks. I hate to send someone to another site but I have found some good information on Moparts.
