How to clean an aluminium intake ( on the easier and cheaper way )

although I'm gonna paint the intake, would love to at least clean it best as posible, before paint it on Corporated blue... whats the best, cheap, easier and effective way to make it. Specially the stain around.

If you know someone with a sand blaster it comes out like new  :2thumbs:  I used the fine sand.
68 Charger, slowly in the works, 451 c.i. approx. 535 hp @ the flywheel, so far best time in the 1/4
11.21 @ 119 mph, full exhaust, stock suspension, 4:10s @ 3640 pounds.

Brake cleaner, wire brushes and some scotch brite pads.  :cheers:

I was thinking about some acid dip ( muriatic ? ) but was afraid since is aluminium

Some folks use Easy-Off oven cleaner but you have to be careful and don't let it stay on too long. A thorough rinsing with water is neccessary to remove all traces of the cleaner. It might discolor the surface a little but it's going to be painted anyway.

Bead blasting would be nice...otherwise   lacquer thinner will clean it up...plus   it will clean any oily residue so the paint will stick.
