Why would someone turn a car into a pro-street "daily driver" and leave the drivetrain bone stock?!?!??!

Bone stock motor... That year, what, 160-180HP?? Talk about all bark and no bite!!

And this one?? "You will not find a better pro-street anywhere..."

REALLY?? What are these people thinking?? Sad part is they'll find a sucker...

I've seen times where the owner of such a car had to sell the engine/trans and re-install a "Bone stock" motor in order to get what he needed out of the car...How do we know dude didn't buy a "Project" someone WAS gonna dump a 572 In then, ran outta money and sold off the body as a project just needing a motor?

The Dash and Stereo install on the "1979 Camaro street & strip, white" is a total custom job.....

I remember years ago there was a Chevy Vega that totally looked like a Pro Street ride, tubbed rear, fat tires, complete roll cage, Seats and race harnesses but under the hood was the stock 4 banger. License plate read "PROFAKE".

My only question is why would you spend all of the time and money to modify the Body, rear end and install a roll cage and not put a big ass motor in it?

Unless it had a big motor and someone blew the hell out of it, no money to replace big ass motor with another big ass motor and they put the stock motor back in it.

I don't now, people due stupid crap for stupid reasons.

We don't, except that he claims this is his "daily driver".. Pulling up next to that thing at a set of lights you'd expect it to leave with the two front wheels hanging ...

I know what your sayin'..I've had the very same thing happen to a buddy with those Damn HEMI badges all over his Charger....
I tried and tried to tell him, there's only two ways to build a 426 HEMI, and either way, it better run like hell....

That's a story for another day, but I remember getting my azz handed to me in my "Hemi 06 Charger" by a Caddy thinking "Oh , that was a disgrace"

I love sleepers, but the Northstar's been around long enough that everybody should keep a wary eye. Remember the GT cars that were restricted so the rest of the world's best could keep up?

I guess some people would rather be recognized for being different than for being the same...that's why I own Dodge!

I have a friend with a super lame pro=street rod '47 chevy. it is ,of course, painted teal, yellow and pink. massive tubbed rear etc etc etc. beige burlap interior....no stainless garnish, everything painted over rubber..etc.

in an effort to appreciate his car, I asked him what the drivetrain was...in the hopes it would be awesome. while he is really proud of his smooothed firewall, it is sitting behind a completely no power 350 SBC with a matching lame-o automatic.

he paid 75 grand for it.

lately he has been trying to sell it. I dont have the heart to tell him it is basically worthless.

tubbed race cars don't sell with radical engines...          I have seen quite a few people sell old pro street cars with either modern drivetrains or stock-ish engines....

I remember seeing a dodge Charger that was yellow...   super clean - resto type job but was tubbed like a pro street car...    kinda made me as "why" in the beginning but grew to really like the trend.
