Anyone's opinion would be GREATLY appreciated!!
I am in the market for a Charger and would like someone's opinion between the SRT and the R/T:
What is the actual MPG for each of these?
How loud is the SRT at interstate speeds?
Are there any specific Charger problems that I should look out for when shopping for a used one?
THANKS!!

Lennard

I would go for the R/T  :2thumbs:

Miles per gallon are ridicules but the funfactor is a 10!

UH... Missing parts and rust.

Wasps, spiders and snakes.

I don't think there has been enough time to get Missing parts and rust, Wasps, spiders and snakes on a SRT ( guys, he is on LXs not on Bs )

:icon_smile_big: Sometimes it is just fun to tease.

I am with Lennard, go for an old school R/T, but then again who likes those old Chargers.  :nana:

Try parking your car in my neighborhood over night.

You'll probably get a couple of 'possums in there too!  :nana:

I thought on the new ones the RT was like an appearance package and the SRT was the drivetrain part?

Get an R/T Daytona.  Used prices are reasonable.  You don't get quite the power of the SRT or the insurance premium, or gas guzzler tax.  Nice car with all the stand out features. Almost all of the SRT fun stuff is standard or available except the engine and big brakes.  Daytonas are readily available on the used car market.  Handles well and the looks aren't for shy people.  The SRT is great fun but the gas mileage sucks.  My R/T is about 23mpg on the freeway and 28mpg if you keep the speed down so the MDS works on the 5.7.  My bride has an SXT with the 3.5 and the 26h package so she has heated leather seats, adjustable pedals, upgraded heater controls and many of the goodies my Daytona has but she consistently get 30 mpg on the freeway.  The Daytona has a nice sounding exhaust that Chrysler claims puts 10 more HP to the rear wheels, but noise is very reasonable on the highway, as is the SRT.  You can save some money and still have a fun car with the Daytona.

Well for the 2006 SRT8, it's 14/20 mpg.

Actully there are alot of differences between the R/T and the SRT...I have an 2006 Charger R/T...There is also no Show or go R/T's they both have the same stuff, just minor things there...I think it comes down to money. If you can afford the SRT8, get that other wise the R/T's are great cars...I have had mine for 4 years and love it...

OneofNoneRT

R/T does have a performance package.. Code is "R".. Suspension, exhaust, wheels and steering.. though it is still the 5.7l But it HP rating bumps up 10 HP.. I have a 2008...
