230 a month???  thats  bloddy cheap. Is he a guy in a garage or a real shop?   anyways Thats an easy 3000 dollar job.

When I price out work like this, I tend to do it by the piece rather than by the month or hour...When you tell a customer what they will be paying by the hour, they tend to think your labor isn't worth it for whatever reason..Then, they inevidably get screwed over by someone else and sooner or later come back understanding that you weren't all that high after all....

Floors usually depending on how much work and how bad the frame is underneath, I usually get between $900-$1500 for a full job, front to rear, with seam seal....

Quarters are MUCH HARDER as you have the block sanding time...While everybody will SAY THEY AREN'T LOOKING FOR A SHOW CAR, when it comes time to put on the shiney stuff, they almost ALWAYS throw you under the bus by saying something like this when a negative comment is made about the paint and body.."Well, I had this guy doing the work and while he was reasonable, I wouldn't take anything to him ever again"...This is how Maaco got their bad rep on paint jobs....Should have never even offered that $200 special....MOST bodymen will understand that no matter What you say, it's their rep that is on the line when the neg. comments come at the cruise nights about that $1000.00 paint and body job that was "All you could afford" at the time...

While you are kinda on the cheaper side, if he is willing to do quality work for that price, then I say go for it....I wouldn't do it that way though...

How excited will he be when he's knee deep in the project and realizing it's a lot more work than he thought?...(This sucks! I'm not doing it for this price)...Next thing you know you could end up with a torn apart, unfinished car and a lot of money gone...(Oh well, he got what he got cheaper than anybody else would have) ...Pay as you go with a written agreement for the specific panel/panles being replaced. Then make a new agreement for the next repair step. I've never met a body guy that has been in it very long to be excited about a big job like that. That alone is a red flag to me...(I need your cash flow now!)...I'd really think carefully about such an arrangement.

The bugle sounds the charge begins. But on this battlefield no one wins.

Well I got the floor cut out of the passenger side. so he is just going to weld it in Tuesday.   He is going to do the out side body work and paint the out side for me and trunk removal and tail panel removal and welding new in.  I am doing the inside work. He is  going to work 2 to 3hrs a day on it.   He works in a shop and has own body shop across from my house so when he can work on it i will roll over to his house and when he cant i will do interior. His boss is a mopar freak like me in his main job and is going to let me use his paint booth. But i am going to do all the crappy work other than out side body work and welding because i do not feel comfortable welding and messing up. He has always wanted to do a project like this so i hope it works out. I am only paying him for the months that he works on it. Tks for all input i will pay as i go one project at a time it seems that's the safest way to not get screwed and keep a good relation ship with someone who lives close to my house.
