Removing sound deadening from modern car ??

I have a 93 Mustang that I need to remove the sound deadening in certain areas of the interior floor, to be able to install a roll cage.
The sound deadening is the mat kind, maybe 1/8 inch thick, looks like little sections of asphalt paper cut to fit body contours.
Must be glued to metal ?

Is there an easier way of getting this out other than chipping it out with a chisel ??

Thanks.

Heat it up and the glue will give so you can pull it off, if you have a good hairdryer it can be done quite fast. The professional equivelant would work to of course but don't run out to buy one for one job.
Heat it long enough and it'll get very flexible but do wear gloves. You can warm it up, pre cut a piece, heat up more and cleanly cut through instead of removing the whole patch, might be more interesting.
Hope this helps.

I figured it would need heat. Will have to borrow girlfriends hairdryer, not enough hair on this head to justify owning one  :icon_smile_wink:
I'm sure she'll be excited, she thinks I have her missing pots and pans in the garage  being used as catch pans....now what would give her that idea
