 :shruggy: Hey guys and girls,

Got a question for you, hope anyone can answer for me.  My 08 charger stalls when the brakes are pressed at a hard stop.  It can happen anywhere anytime, but not all the time.  I am upset with this.  It has happened at an intersection before and, I was almost in an accident. Do any of you have this problem?  I have complained to my dealer, and he says that he has not heard of any complaints.

RD

the trucks have the same issue.. their reasoning was that the computer has a difficult time taking all the information in regards to a abrupt stop and causes the engine to stall as the sensors do not all seem to send appropriate signals to the engine comp for it to know what the hell to do.

sound like bullshit? i have no idea.  my '05 hemi truck does the same thing every once and awhile.

Thanks for letting me know that I am not alone.  Sometimes it tries to stall, then it lurches forward when it's trying to catch up with it's brain. It is a little dangerous at times.  I hate it.  I didn't know that even the 05 did it to.  Thanks for replying.

get a predator diablo and throw a tune in it and see of it changes anything.
better yet, try this forum as well and see what the guys/gals there have to say about it. It's geared more for the newer Charger.
but that doesn't mean you have to leave us though.  :icon_smile_big:

Warm welcome to you by the way.

Being an '08, I would suspect it's still under warranty?

Still under warranty but dealer "can't duplicate customer complaint"  :brickwall:. Thanks for the input.

Sucks that you pay so much money for one of them 'chargers' and then dealer won't even fix it.

Black Charger

First off, welcome to the forum! I own a newer Charger as well (2006 SRT8) so I have some experience with them. If I were you, I would go to the chargerforums.com site and do a search on your problem. Several members on that site are dealership mechanics and they are always posting tips, tricks and fixes for the newer Chargers. Also, if your dealer won't fix your problem, I would suggest trying the service department at another dealer. You may get lucky and find a fix for your problem there.

Red Ram

Take it to the dealer for service every time it happens. Even if they refuse to repair, they are considered repair attempts and probably gets you closer to Chrysler buying the car back under your state's Lemon Law. I would contact Chrysler at this point (not the dealer) and ask them to buy the car back.

How many times have you brought it in?

My 99 Dodge Ram was doing this, it was the speed sensor in rear end. Does your speedo ever act up?

Speed sensor for the speedometer is not in the rear end...it's in the transmission.....the sensor in the rear end is ABS sensor for the anti-lock brakes (the rear end sensor has nothing to do with speedometer)

Pre 1998 the speed sensor signal comes from the back of the trans/transfer case. 1998 and later the speed sensor signal comes from the rear axle speed sensor.   That is why we can change the rear end gear on these trucks now and not worry about throwing off the speedo.  :yesnod:
The new chargers are the same way.  Speed sensor in the rear.  Not in the transmission.

but they can at least reflash the modules to be on the save side.  :Twocents: :Twocents: even if they can not duplicate customer complaint.
i hate it when they say "can not duplicate the fault"  :flame: its like they say ..go away with that problem, i do not like to work today........
they just needed to hook it up on the WiTECH, program (reflash) and WHAM (take no longer than 1 hour), ready for you to test drive the vehicle because its a problem that is not occurring everytime.
(you do not want to have a mecanic driving your car for 5 days)
