The lens makes this look closer than it is but still a breathtaking shot.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

the above F-14 photo is real, but the caption is 100% false. The aircraft carrier this photo was taken from is the USS America(CV-66) WOOT!. The photo was taken in 1989.  The USS John C. Stennis(CVN-74) WOOT WOOT! was not even built then. The pilot of this, GOD of all Aircraft, was CDR Dale "SNORT" Snodgrass, and he was not grounded. He is a GOD in F-14 circles and the king f-14 pilots.
It had been a famous photo of conversation most of my Naval Career and continues to be on the net, which I think is fantastic except I wish they would remove the caption.
Another famous photo that circulates the Navy, and is one my favorites, is that of a P-3 banked and fully loaded.  See pic.
I actually have an original of this photo framed and in my house that my father sent me one day out of the blue and it's right from the navy archives.  I didn't ask how he got it but he knows some people.LOL

Here is what Capt Snodgrass had to say about it.
Retired Captain Snodgrass wrote in 1998: "I am amazed that after nine years this photo is being scrutinized with such fervor. The photo is in fact real. It was taken during a dependent's day airshow aboard the USS America in the summer of 1989. I was Executive Officer of VF-33, the Captain of the America was JJ Coonan. It was of my opening pass in the F-14 demo.  This photo indeed has a surrealistic quality. I believe it is due to the focal length of the camera used. There is no doubt that this pass was an aggressive low level maneuver, however, it was briefed to the Airwing Commander who happened to be Captain JL Johnson. Currently he is the Chief of Naval Operations. In fact the officer standing on the flight [deck] with his hands behind his back adjacent the LSO platform is CNO."

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

QuoteNorthwest Airlines Boeing 707 flyby at Winsted, Minnesota, 1966.

Capt. Aspeland: How low do you want me? A thousand feet? Five hundred?

Winsted Tower: You're the captain.

Is that United plane under the golden gate even real?
