Is there some REAL difference between expansion valves being used for R12 and R134A ? I have seen both the same. Some AC "Tech" down here told me that to make a better profit of the Original Expansion Valve designed for R12, to work better with 134A there is an internal small allen screw what could be adjusted, dunno if to close earlier or later and get a better performance of the 134

some info about ?

Nacho, Being that the molecules are smaller in 134A refridgerant, He might be onto something, but I've never really looked at the valves as we always just replace when needed and never really had a problem with the conversions From R12 to 134A...

to be "GUARANTEED" about the "propper 134A " expansion valve will need to get it from USA, not locally, and what can I say, I'm not right now into spend $40-50 for something I don't really need because is mine "working", just that maybe with some touch can be done to work better matched to the gas.

Beside that I have seen the new replacement valves works with both without touch anything

One thing is true... I felt the difference when did need to replace the factory unit my car had and went damaged somehow with a new unit ( NOS Mopar ) with right PN on it. With the factory unit it was REALLY COOOOOLING, enough to fog the REAR GLASS OUTSIDE on a rainy day. Not anymore

what did happen there ? dunno
