pinks is coming to joliet this summer so i have to put a lil more power in the 440!! what it has right now:
10.5 comp
2500 stall convertor
4.10 gears
650 holley dp
stock manifold ( plan on buyin a new one in the near future so make a suggestion for that as well)
no need to worry about vaccuum (non-power breaks and distributor is not connected to vac advance
could care less about fuel milage, i drive it a few times a week in the summer to local shows
1 7/8 primary tti long tubes
3" exhaust w/cutouts.
current cam is a hyd 484 lift  :'(

let me know what you all think!!!

Check out the MP .557 solid cam, with Eddy heads. It runs hard as hell in my 440, 12.3 116mph

Needs more converter as well...I'd go with a 3500-4000 ifn' it were mine... :2thumbs:

4000 stall  :o that sounds like a heck of a time  :2thumbs: .  do u think i would need to put some new valve springs in with .557" lift?

You probably get some nice throttle response with the smaller carb (nice for a street car), but on the track your going to be loosing some up top.

Always get matching springs when "Upping" the camshaft to more lift/duration....

The MP557 is a solid cam and would require adjustable rocker arms, new pushrods and new valvesprings and some valve guide modifications. It would also need more stall speed to launch effectively....4000-4200 minimum.  :Twocents:

The manifold and carb are not correct either....you're leaving a LOT on the table.  :yesnod:

i figured i would need rocker arms, rods, and allt hose goodys but what would have to be done to the valve guides?  :scratchchin:  would a mp single plane and a holley 850 dp do the trick for the top? or would it be better to put on my weiand tunnel ram with 2 holley 650 dp's so i have sumthin stickin out of the hood  :D lol

With stock heads anything over .510 valve lift requires the guides to be trimmed down or the retainers will hit them as the valve fully opens. That will crate a massive failure that you definately want to avoid.  :P

You need to match the cam to the stall speed while creating enough intake airflow to make power throughout the entire powerband.

cam ; Comp XS274S solid flat tappet...no guide mods needed
Intake ; Holley Street Dominator
Carb ; 800-850 cfm double pumper

* adjustable rocker arms, matching pushrods and the appropriate valvespring to keep it stable at high RPM

As Chuck about this cam....it would appear that he's very happy  :icon_smile_big:
