headlight switch making noise

buzzing under the dash left side, reach up under there and can feel the unit buzzing...wiggle it abit and it stops but then starts clicking...just unplug it and replace or is it possibly something else causing it to make noise? thanks

There is a breaker inside the switch on 2nd gen Chargers. (if that helps) Check all connections for corrosion and proper fitting, check the dimmer on the floor also.

looked things over and checked fittings, etc...nothing obvious...took the headlight relay and attached circuit breaker to a NAPA and they couldn't offer a replacement...any thoughts? it's a 70 500, thanks!

do you mean the HIDEAWAYS relay... right ?

A "close" replacement control relay is available for the headlight doors and many have made there own with a dual pole, dual throw relay. Do a search for 70 headlight relays and you will find more info on that. (I can't recall who has the "close" relay but they are about 70.00)

so that unit is the door relay rather than the headlight relay huh? the buzzing and clicking only occurs when the lights are turned on...thanks

Right and the breaker is a bi metallic strip INSIDE the head light switch, you can't see it unless you take the switch apart and look inside. (The same thing for wiper switch also)

depending if you care original or not, you need to identify first if the buzzing comes from relay itself OR the breaker

if you get is the breaker, you can get some NOS unit around like this:

and it will work. I can remember the amp rate on the Hideaways relay though

you can try to remove the relay from dash frame, Remove the breaker from the relay itself ( piece of cake, is attached with a metallic strip to the energized stud ) and feed directly the main power ( blue wire ) directly to the relay and turn it on ( relay must be grounded ). If buzz stopped, then is the breaker. If is still present, is the relay itself.

there are used ones. Newer Mopars with still hideaways still used same relay, with just diff if all input sources were a stud and nut, or a prong, or diff bracket
