Hi guys.

At the moment I re-assemble my 71 Charger.
Next weekend I wanna remove the engine. So I looked for an engine lift.

But I was asked whats the weight of the engine (single and with transmission).
Does anybody  know the weight?

And I am looking for a rotisserie, here I have the same problem, I dont know the weight of the body.

Please could somebody help me out?

Thanks
Michael

A BB wedge motor weighs something like 650-ish depending on the specifics.  The SB motors are more like mid-500s.  I think the auto transmissions are 120-150 but I'm not sure about that.

The body question is really much more open because there is such a difference between one "disassembled" body and another one.  The most stripped-down version of the unibody might be as low as 1200 pounds.  But a mostly complete rolling car body with just the motor/tranny removed  . . . that will probably be in the ballpark of 2800 pounds.

I bought a engine hoist on sale from PEP Boys pretty cheap a few years ago. It has an adjustable arm for weight ranging from 500 to either 1500 or 2000. Had no problems yanking the engine and tranny. You could probably rent one.
