Larger Tires and Decreased Acceleration

I have a 2007 Dodge Charger 2.7 with 265/35/22 tires. I noticed that the car seems to take forever it seems like to accelerate when I really step on the gas pedal. I'm sure it's because it needs to be adjusted in some way to have the engine/transmission set according to the much larger tires than the 17in package it came with. Can anyone steer me in the direction of what needs to be done so that I can feel my back being pushed into the seat a bit more as before the change? Not trying to race the car or anything but simply get it geared accordingly. Thanks for all suggestions.

Your going to need to have the gears in the rear end changed out to a much lower ratio with that small of a engine.  Or just put the proper size wheels back on the car.   ::) Bob

Well I'm looking for the most "economical" way of doing this because the tires are there to stay to be honest. Would it be better to upgrade the engine in some sort of way? Keep in mind I know nothing about cars when it comes to engine/trans. spec's. Just here to get find out what my options are.

If the tires are there to stay then there isn't much in the way of "economical" that you can do.  You can do some of the typical bolt on mods like a freer flowing air intake and such but you have a small engine in a heavy car and adding those big diameter wheels is going to kill acceleration.
A lower rearend ratio or more extensive engine changes will help but you are fighting an uphill battle with the 2.7.  It's a fine enough engine, just not a "push your back into the seat" kind of engine.

Gear ratio, nice and low. Those tires squeeze you into a corner with few alternatives. :Twocents:
