How wide is a 68 wheel to wheel?  I need to trailer my car to the exhaust shop and have access to a trailer that is definately long enough, but may not be wide enough.

I would measure myself but I am not home right now and am a little impatient.  outside of tire to outside of tire.

The trailer one friend has is 6', 6" wide.  It don't think it's enough, I seem to remember thinking it would need to be at least 7' 5"  but I am not sure.

does anyone know off the top of thier head?

I can get a wider trailer, but it's far away and a pain in the ass to arrange.

I recall 78" but need to verify that with a magazine at home.  I am sure someone else will be able to help you before Friday!  I do know that it is not as wide as my Wifes Pacifica.

My trailer is 82" inside to inside and my car has 6" of room on each side, so i'd say your safe with 6'-6".

Is the trailer flat or does it have high rails on the side? Even on your car the wheels are a lot skinnier than the width of the body which is less than 7' wide. There was an old post about towing that stated U-haul has a max width of 69" and I know that a Charger fits fine on that.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

well i have had both. i'll try to help. 6'6 is fine, but make SURE you have someone guiding you on. cause it's pretty tight. 1-2" cl;earance on each side. if you have 275/60 in the back or bigger. it most likely will rub going on. so then it has to be perfect. on the other hand, i now have a 6'10" trailer, (82"), and it has plenty of clearance.. and i drive the cars on and off the trailers by myself, don't need help. if you are just borrowing the trailer for a one time job, and he has a 6'6, just have him carefully help you load it, and it will be fine.. if you plan to buy one someday, get 6"10, hands down.. oh and no sides.. i got so tired of the door barely opening or sometimes not opening at all if the tires weren't full of air

it's got the wheels under the deck, so no fenders to rub.  it's an older landscape trailer that he had modified with HD axles to haul a CAT skidsteer.  he decided in the end that it would not be good to use this setup for long hauls and moved up to something bigger, but that's 5th wheel and my tahoe can't tow that.

thanks, guys.
