Leaf Spring U-bolt torque specs?

Can't find this anywhere, I have them at 40lbs currently till I find out for sure.  1973 model year

I don't have a '73, however the torque on our '71 Charger was 45 lbs.

Hmm, is it possible theirs a difference because they had the isolator pad setup?

In 1969 the torque spec for axle U-bolts was 45 ft.lbs. (+/-15) for 8-3/4" and Dana60 axles.  It was 40ft.lbs (+/-10) for 7-1/4" axles.

My assumption would be that the torque specs were similar between 1969 and 1973, so it sounds as if you're just fine the way yours are torqued now.

It means the factory considered the U-bolt to be correctly torqued if the reading was anywhere between 30 and 60 ft.lbs...  plus- or minus- 15ft.lbs from the target of 45, at least for an 8-3/4" axle in 1969.

   It should be noted that factory U bolts are flattened over the top of the housing.     If using aftermarket bolts that are totally round, you may want to check with the mfg'er.

   Is there a difference in using factory versus aftermarket?   Ebooger thinks so,  he won't use the round ones.      I dunno...  I do.  I probably torqued mine to 75 with the caltrac bottom plates.
