I'm trying to replace my Pitman arm in my 69 Dodge Charger but every standard part that I order that says it is for 69 does not fit because it bangs up against the header. I compared the part in my car that works against what parts I'm getting sent and there is an obvious difference. Can someone identify the part on the top? What year/make/model is that from?

The part on the bottom is the replacement that doesnt work. Image attached.

from memory , the top looks like the original part !!  correct one  , are you sure the bottom one even goes on the splines ok  :scratchchin:  as it looks like its  for the later larger spline box  & its got more than one indexing spline  :scratchchin: :yesnod:

Agreed, the bottom has a larger hole for the splines and would not work for a small sector box. I'd verify that first.

Check with Rare Parts, Inc.  They were the only ones selling the small sector pitman that fits a 69 charger at one time.  I think AutoZone handles their part.  The large sector pitman that fits later boxes is avail from MOOG.

Rare Parts doesn't have it and the one at an angle is the MOOG part that they say is for the 69 Charger. Here's another pic with the part numbers:

Researching the part number I came up with someone that found this part on a 72 Duster and someone seemed to think it was for a 73+ duster. Here's the thread link:

Any ideas?
