Crikies!   I thought that car was long gone!   I use that tag as an example in my registry!

I emailed him asking if he had any pics of the car for the registry

The ad says $50k. The car is disassembled but comes with a bunch of stuff.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

Ive been conversing back & forth with the owner.  He says the car was possibly used in the Detroit Autorama that year as well.
It also has a lot of 68 model items on it as well.  This is definately a 1 of 1 car

Didn't the guy who owns that car used to post on the old site? I thought his name was Steve or something like that and was from Atlanta Georgia. Or does someone else own the car now?

I could be way off, but I know I have seen that fender tag before.

Question on that fender tag, will someone tell me what the 247 at the top left corner means.

It did say that originally....he edited it out.

Yes his name is Steve.  Dont know if I remember him from the old board though.  He said he's an e body guy mostly.

I have no clue as to the "247" on the tag either....

I have a photo of the car on this computer somewhere too. I'll check through the 1,000's on here and see if I can find it. I remember getting it a few years ago, but I thought it was on this board, it might have been on Moparts.

I noticed he says he thinks it has every factory option except A/C...I wonder if that is correct.  For sure it is missing a rather big one called a Hemi which would have made it even more desirable than it is.

Nah, I told him that as well.....it does not have every option.  I have several cars that have way more

It appears to be missing quite a few options isn't it? No buildsheet on this car? Or does he have one?

Just 6T9 CHGR

Dont know if he has the build sheet.   It is missing the original auto trans though :(

Side note here, Chris, have you read the thread about the Black HEMI 500 with 181 origional miles? I think I might have an update on the car if anyone is seriously looking at it.

There's a guy over at Moparts who knows a ton about the black car. He said it was raced very early on, and the block needed to be re-sleeved. Also the original owner put plastic on the car and it somehow stuck to the paint which is why they re-did the car? Pretty interesting stuff.

That tag is very cool. Those numbers on top are new to me as well. I see them on post '73 Mopars, but never on anything this old. Like mentioned, that car is missing a bunch of options, mainly the SE package. The chances of a sheet on a car built that early are probably slim to none. I'm sure by now it has been completely apart many times. It looks like the owner knows what he has. 50K for a car in pieces is a lot, but this is a nice piece of history for the '69 model (and all Chargers). Sure would be nice to see it restored.

69_500

Do either of you have a link to where it was being discussed on mOparts? I have searched and searched and can't come up with anything.

I see the seller is mentioning talking to people about it possibly being in the Dodge Display in 1969 at the Auto show. So do you think Juliano would be interested in the car to add to his collection?

Charger R/T #1

Hello All, I just registered on this sight and saw the thread about my car!! There was some questions about the 247 at the top of the fender tag. According to Galen and others that should know that was the job number similar to the 70 tags that say "JOB #" on them. this one just gives the number alone. Someone also mentioned the build sheet. There is no build sheet and never was one. Build sheets were used for assembly line purposes and this car being a hand built prototype car would not have needed nor had one. As far as it being apart several times as one member suggested, this car was basically untouched with the exception of the transmission being changed out until the late 80's. The guy I bought it from about 9 years ago said he bought it in the late 80's, drove it home and proceded to completely disassemble the car and store it in this basement until I bought it from him. I have stated it has every option with the exception of A/C and I may be wrong but it does have a lot of options that do not appear on the data plate such as 6 way seat, rear defroster, rear speaker. It is also very interesting as it has a lot of 68 parts on it such as the dash and 68 style doors. The body stamp in the core support also states that the body must have started out as a 68 as it is stamped 8X100039. I have done a real good inventory of the parts and I cannot find anything missing. It even still has its original exhaust system!! The SPD is 7-28-68 but i believe the car was actually built before that as the casting date on the original numbers engine is 4-68 and the date codes on all of the other original components are mid MAY 68. Galen thinks this car was actually produced in late June or early July of 1968. Something real strange is the fact the engine was painted Turquoise NOT hemi Orange!!! Something else that is very interesting is in a conversation I had with Steven Juliano a couple of years ago he said that this may also have been the car used in the Super Bowl 3 as they showed a 69 Charger R/T with the same colors as mine as the MVP giveaway car. I have since found out that the car Joe Namath actually received was a green sunroof car not the red one shown in the game footage which may be my car? Galen and Steven Juliano also both say that given the timeframe and the lack of any other known car like this that this was probably the car used in the ads from late 68. I have attached a picture of one of those ads. I am real torn on whether or not to sell this car as I know it is a 1 of 1 and I could never replace it. If anyone has any input or other thoughts I would GREATLY appreciate it. I did use to live in Atlanta also as another member stated but have relocated to Ft Smith Arkansas last year. Thanks, Steve Schweitzer

Would that be the same one in the add with the Dart and Coronet??  Do you have pictures on the car Today???

Charger R/T #1

Hello, it may be the car in that ad also, but I am not sure. The car is in my barn now but is safe and secure. I will post some pictures when I get it into my shop in a week or 2. thanks, Steve

How much do you want for the car???  Where are you located???
