Hudson Hornet !

I am looking to buy several items for my charger engine, and I was wondering about the experiences that other members have had with 440 source products. ( not including cylinder heads)  They have great prices on starters, flywheels, oil pans, stroker kits, etc. Before I drop $$$$$ I would like to know your thoughts. Thanks in advance for the advice, as I am new to H.P. big block chrysler parts.

A short list of what I need will be:

Flywheel, also front dampner

Stroker kit

Starter

Oil Pan

Well Hornet, When shopping for performance parts, the general Rule of thumb is you get what you pay for and cheaper parts don't always mean they are better or of the same quality...MAkes one wonder WHY they are so much sheaper than say EAGLE or Lunati...

I haven't had any experience with 440source yet, but I have had some friends that bought their stuff and have had pretty good luck with it....

These are mainly weekend warriors cars that occasionally see track time..I know of nobody that is beatin' the hell outta their 440Source engine at the track yet though..

I have and I would not recommend them to anyone.  They are cheap, but they have junk parts and there return policy sucks.  They charge a 25% restocking fee.

I have Customers who prefer to supply their "Own parts" when I build them Engines at my Shop.

Many, have supplied their own 440Source Rotating Assemblies for me to work with, everything from 451's @ 550hp, right up to Dedicated Drag efforts at 850hp.

Although I find that "Generally" some more "corrections" to the 440 Source machining is required, than say a Crower/SCAT/Callies type Assemblies, for the most part the 440Source RA's are providing very good value for the money.

My point being;
Nothing wrong with the 440Source Assemblies, providied a "higher degree" of Continuity is applied in regards to "checking" it, and "adjusting" as per the intended application.

just my  :Twocents:

Here's a link to an 849hp "440Source" Rotating Assembly I built last year.
Keep in mind these are only ported INDY "SR" Heads, NOT the best head for this size Engine, but still "respectable".

I recently put together a 6-Pack using a number of items from 440 Source : http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,64177.0.html

I bought a water pump and housing from them as well, but I didn't use them... the quality just wasn't there. I believe they modified their pump housing a few months ago, but they are still using the same pump. Either way, I would steer clear of these 2 items.

Also not listed is a host of misc. items that I purchased from them in the way of brackets, pumps, pulleys, timing chain parts, HV oil pump etc,etc,etc... maybe I'll go back and list a few of them while I'm at it... anyway, about $3800 all said and done... so other than the water pump & housing, I have no complaints! There are a few items that I would not buy from them of course, but overall I think they have made a very good effort to help the Mopar community. They saved me a shit ton of cash anyway, and that's always good when your on a less than free flowing budget.

Didn't some have issues with keepers pushing through or/and roller rocker?  :scratchchin:

Yes, we saw a problem with the early keepers, but we haven't heard anything negative concerning the new ones yet... Then again, most folks just change them over to the COMP set anyway just to be on the safe side. As far as the rollers are concerned... Yes, we saw a few issues there as well in the past, but nothing recent. Rollers are always a tough choice anyway... good quality is hard to come by, and it doesn't come cheap. I personally wouldn't touch the 440 Source Roller sets myself, but a good many folks have, so I guess there no worse than a few others I could mention.
