I have a 1969 dodge charger auotmatic with a 440. When I am moving it stays cool but when I stop it starts to heat up real fast Any suggestions? I have a 3 core rad. in it now.  thanks

1: timing can do that (mine did till I re-adjusted it) 2: stock fan with no shroud or bad fan clutch. 3: clogged rad. or air pocket in system. 4: thermostat going bad. 5: lean idle air fuel mix. Check all those and report back.  :scratchchin:

a fan shroud is probably the best for overheating when not moving.  A new thermostat with a lower temp rating will just give you more time before the temp reached dangerous levels.
