Interesting.... If you look closely at the Brookherst Dodge ad, it looks like the dealer used part of the car's VIN for their "stock numbers". If you look at the Chargers listed you will see that they are all XP cars.

cool posting...I have the mag in the first post too  :2thumbs: :2thumbs:

What is up with the very first pic of the red charger with white tail stripe...but no R/T emblem
in the grille? Could you order a non R/T with a transverse stripe like that? Apparently you could since
that one exists.

That air cleaner does not have the snorkels...seems like they were removed/or never installed.  :scratchchin:   The sailpanel sideways arrow is nice to see.... :icon_smile_wink:

I love this quote from the article:  "This automobile has to be designated a classic the moment it rolls off the assembly line."

Prophetic.

That large air cleaner with no snorkels, would be correct for an early 68 440 magnum. I have a
September built 68 charger and a December built 68 charger, both of them did come from the factory
with that exact air cleaner. Now a December car is getting late to get the larger air cleaner, but
the original owner told me in 1982 at the time of purchase, that it was the the original air cleaner.

I like seeing those sail panel arrows as well, only seen one in Peron one time, pretty rare.

This is my wifes 68 with the large air cleaner   http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php?action=post;quote=736465;topic=65643.0;num_replies=20;sesc=4c94a327f1dd8a29471cae1596ee82a8

The large air cleaners are very hard to find, and will cost you a arm and a leg   :eek2:
