2010 Charger Meet in Boerne, TX?

Just wondering if this was going to returning to the calendar or if it was not in the works for this year either?

I checked the site and saw that they listed a meet for June in Tennessee, but didn't have any word on the Boerne deal?

I was finally to a point where I could have gone last year, and it got the axe...I was hoping it would be back for 2010.  I wanted to start planning now and hope I'd be able to attend if it was in fact taking place.

Does anyone have any insight on this?

I can email Wes and see if there's anything planned. If not, then it might be useful to plan something.....  Waco's got a great park, or at least it was last time I was there years ago, Ft.Fisher Park on the Brazos River.

Yeah, it would be nice to know.  I'm kind of afraid it might not have even been considered since the site is updated for 2010.  I am holding out hope it is being debated or something and will get tacked back on.  There are a few of us up this way that might like to make the trip down.

If that doesn't work I will gladly throw something together up this way if anyone is interested.  If nothing else it would save a few folks from making quite as long of a trip, lol.  I know a few of the new Chally folks this way ran down to DFW/Waco and had a good time as well.

Keep us posted on what you find out...I always wanted to make that one and it will kind of be sad if it is gone forever  :rotz:

No "official" Charger Meet in Boerne this year. I emailed Wayne to see if it was ok to have a "TDC Charger Meet". Otherwise, I'd like to get something together here in Houston or near Waco maybe. The trick is to find a nice venue to do it plus a nice place to cruise to........

:'(  They didn't bother to mention if Boerne would ever return did they?

I'm not sure how many guys would be able to make it to Houston, but I will be glad to get word out around these parts and find out.  A lot of the guys are able to just get a week off of work and go to town with something like that.  The Dallas area isn't as bad, just about 5-6 hrs.  By the time one of us could get to Houston, I think we could be at the top end of Wyoming  :icon_smile_big:  People never realize how big Texas is until they start to drive across it!

If they want to branch out the Charger meets or if ple just want something informal I can put another event together at Palo Duro Canyon.  I'm not sure where the thread went in the events section, but I put a few pics up on here a while back.  I'd love to get more Chargers down in the canyon!  If people didn't want to wait till October for the 2nd Annual Chryslers in the Canyon, I would gladly get stuff done for a Charger meet.  Not really much work to do when you consider the pay off of the end result!

Texas Stroker,

A Charger run into the Palo Duro this summer?  Count me in, I spent my first year and a half on this earth at the old JA Ranch near there.  If you can get it set up early enough, my two sons would probably try to get some scheduled leave from Annapolis to show up.

I used to attend the Boerne show for years, but with it now in Tennessee I have not been able to attend any of the TDC events.  I would really like to see another Charger meet of some sort in Texas, and if it was in the Panhandle you could attract folks from several nearby states.

It is a great idea, and please keep us posted if it progresses.

I hadn't realized they'd moved the meet to TN.

I hadn't been able to attend since 2006.

I'd love to make it to a get together with the Texas folks.  :2thumbs:

Awesome Paladin!  We would love to have you make the trip.  We did our first Chryslers in the Canyon this past October and had a very nice turnout with our Long Haul Award going to a couple out of Oklahoma City.  We did have a few folks from New Mexico make the trip over as well.  Everyone had a great time.  We would really like to get some folks from Colorado and Kansas to come down this year.

We will be hosting the 2nd Annual Chryslers in the Canyon on Saturday, October 16th, 2010.  We keep costs as low as possible, which last year was $2 for the "group rate" park admission.  You can really get some great shots down in the canyon.  It was very cool to see 40 or so Mopars nestled between the canyon walls  :coolgleamA:

The web page is a little rought right now, but is functional:

Info: http://www.amarilloareamopars.com/chryslersinthecanyon
Pics: http://www.amarilloareamopars.com/chryslersinthecanyonpics

I also had a thread on here with a few shots to showcase the drive down etc: http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,62910.0.html

If anyone is serious about wanting a few more Charger meets let me know...I will gladly do my part to make them a reality.  Anyone is welcome to attend our 2nd Annual Chryslers in the Canyon, but if some of ya'll want a Charger meet in the spring or summer, I will certainly do my best to accommodate the request.  I have no idea if it would be incorporated with the major events of TDC or not, but if they don't want to take credit for it this site can, and if that won't work we can just call it "Chargers in the Canyon"  :2thumbs:

Like I've said if anyone is up for this, let me know.  I think something in this area, something in the DFW area, and something coastal would be a pretty good spread for Texas.  The state is so big we could pull in folks from all over.  And think, if time or money allows folks could go for the hat-trick!  I try to keep things simple and as close to free as possible...I just think it is more fun that way.  If anyone is hardcore into awards or things of that nature, we can make it happen, it just won't be $2 park entry fee as the only expense, lol.

Feel free to reply to this thread, shoot me a PM, or e-mail me at amarilloareamopars@yahoo.com

Whatever happened to the Ardmore Ok. meet?  I'm thinking of going through there this summer to touch base with some family that I haven't seen in 40+ years.  Then I would swing up to Omaha to see the grandkids and they want me to drag the Charger along for the trip.  Bob

I'm not sure why the regional meets are fading, I haven't spoken to Wayne on this.. Maybe it's the cost associated with them? I mean, the meets are ALWAYS free, but I would assume there's some sort of cost associated with the usage of parks, centers, etc... In today's market where people have to watch their budgets, a venue usually has to be a most a few hours drive so the complete experience can be over the weekend.

If people aren't concerned about a round-up being officially sanctioned by The Dodge Charger Registry (which I guess is hard to get approval for or something?) and just want to get out in their Charger and spend some time with other Charger owners I can make it happen here for about $2 per person in the canyon (that was the group rate for last year, might go up, but I don't think we'd be looking at more than $3-5 per person...and that is the only cost, which is of course just the admission to the park).

I have a contact in the park and can set a date based on feedback here if anyone is game.  I believe you hit "group status" at 20-30 if I remember right.  Palo Duro Canyon is just a few miles southeast of Amarillo (15-20 to be more specific).

This can literally be pulled off for under $5 per person...unless ya'll want a ton of awards etc., as much as I'd like to have a plaque for everyone I can't really finance that on my own, lol.  The choice is basically come have fun on the cheap with a bunch of other Chargers, or pay a little more and know you have a chance for an award etc.  Having never been to a TDC event, I don't know how they go.  I'm sure if enough folks are interested I can swing some reduction at local hotels as well.  Or if you feel really festive, you can camp out in the canyon.

Again you can either come out to Chryslers in the Canyon to a get a feel for things, or if ya'll just want to dive right into a 1st ever Chargers in the Canyon we can go that route.  It is all easy for me since I'm just a few miles out...the only concern is making it as available and enjoyable to as many as possible.

I'll basically do whatever I can to make it happen becuase to be honest it would be pretty freaking awesome to have a string of Chargers rolling down into the canyon  :drool5:  I know it takes a lot of time, but it is well worth the effort on my part and I'm not a bad person to do it since I don't like involving money in stuff

I'm not sure I'd be much help in Waco or Houston, but I would dang sure advertise the events to help out a little!

Houston and Amarillo are so far away it's like going two states over...  ;D  Being a Geo-guy, I would love the scenery of Palo Duro, but again, it would almost be like going to Nashville.   :o

Hmmmmm, Amarillo looks like it's on the way to OK. City.  Maybe I could time my trip to to be there if it happens.  Bob

I hear ya on the distance.  People that come down to Dallas or San Antonio from out of state always want to come visit me...they have a hard time believing that I could really be 6-8 hours across the state  :rotz:

A friend who runs to and from Dallas can make it a little under 6 hrs.  I know it is about 6-7 hours to get down to Brady (Heart of Texas), and then you still prob have 1.5-2hrs to Austin...and then whatever it is all the way down to Houston  :-\

If you do ever plan to come to PDC definitely try to schedule it around an event we are having...then you get the best of both worlds.  For those who don't know Palo Duro Canyon is dubbed, "The Grand Canyon of Texas."  It is a very large canyon system, with a vast amount of acreage being part of the state park.

And yes, Amarillo is right west of OKC on I40...something like 250 miles I believe  ;D  We really aren't that bad of a location for some of the regional draws.  I always try to slate trips in line with other Mopar events, haha.  That's actually why I asked about Boerne, we go down to the Hill Country every year and I wouldn't mind getting two things done at once!

If anyone is game for a Charger round up in Amarillo let me know if you want it independent of our fall event, combined, or what.  It isn't too much trouble to set another date up.  If some of you are interested, you can come down, see what you think this fall, throw out feedback (hopefully good) and we can shoot for something in the spring to follow it up.  Just let me know what ya'll want and I will work to accommodate it.

Why not just have it in Oklahoma City? That way it is more central and maybe more people would show up? Just a thought.  :shruggy:

Someone's got to initiate and do all the logistics locally... It's hard to organize things for the first time if you live hundreds of miles away.....

I also asked Wayne last year at the PSI show in NC. He said no show in Boerne and left it at that. I used to go to the show in Boerne but it's been years. We could always have a Charger Meet of our own.
