the thought of MMJ saying "word" is just too dang funny.

Okay, you got me there man.

Or the fact that I hardly ever say that "word" on here?  :smilielol:

Or the fact I just don't like the cars that much that I used the word "word" with the other guy reply?

Just this last week they had the charger police package article on motor trend. But with it they had the regular street vesion that everyones been teased with. It's since been pulled. I wonder if they were allowed to show that pic or if Chrysler said something?

RD

have to admit.. they sure did try to pay more homage to the original chargers with this one.  like it a helluvalot better than the first.  now i want to know what it will look like with a SRT hood, spoiler and some big alcoa rims? :D

The past is gone.  That's what makes our Chargers special.

To be honest with you I don't like a 4 door charger either.

I call mine a Coronet.  It makes me feel better.  They are actually very solid driving cars with excellent road feel.  Technology has come a long way, it's a shame styling hasn't.  I'm still lookingfor a Coronet badge that is the proper size to fit where the Charger badge is on the back of my car...

I find the taillights and the side profile to be a huge improvement over the previous one.  If they could only lose that catfish gasping for air grille they would really have something.

Thank you Argos!!!!!
 :2thumbs: Finally, a new "Charger" owner that gets it and is not trying to convince classic Charger purists that the four-door Magnum sedan is anything but a misnamed Coronet. Why do you guys waste so much time reading us the riot act over this friggin' car? It is NOT a Charger. OK? And a bunch of advertising jacka$$es at Chrysler have no authority to convince me otherwise. Thank you Argos for so simply accepting what I've been trying to convince so many people to accept for years. Thank you!!!! I am going to save your quote somewhere and use it over and over again until everyone's brain starts functioning properly.

Their not that smart enough yet to realize that the grill doesn't fit with the car style. So far they got to realizing about the sides of the car though to change that stuff from what it was before.

CHARGER CHARGER CHARGER!

Stop drinking the Koolaid, Ponch. Free your mind, utilize common sense and don't listen to the Trevor Creeds out there. Read the following until your mind becomes clear and focused:

Im curious to see what an SRT-8 will look like. Currently something bugs me about the back quarters. They just kinda fail to fit the menacing look. Might be able to save that with wider rims and some sort of wing, but we shall see.

The 5-year-old Charger design saw nearly zero modifications over the past half decade, so this redesign is long overdue. While Chrysler has seen fit to leave the Charger's platform (LX) in place for the time being, the cosmetic exterior changes are palatable. Nearly no panel is left untouched (save maybe the roof). The new Dodge crossbars grille features prominently up front. The headlights have also been redesigned with sharper angles near the grille, and the lower front fascia appears to have grown a larger lower lip/spoiler.

So Kevin, taking your editor hat off for a moment and just being a Charger fan, what is your personal opinion on the car's restyle?

MoparManJim

Well after looking at that photo. I must say they still goof on the front end "yet".. I mean look at where the dang grill open runs down into! Into the fricking bumper area and still goes down alittle. that front end is dog ugly like it was back afew years ago and it's not looks any better then it was back then. I think the Dodge trucks looks way better with it on them! and I'm an old school guy at that!
The chargers on the other hand with the truck grill doesn't look to good. the front of the chargers still to me has that turtle face look. The real chargers doesn't have that look at all. So far they changes what the sides and back? yet they still fail badly at the front end though. I bet if they took and remodeled the whole grill and headlight area completely around and at least made an attemp at it to make it look like on old school charger front end I bet people would love the car alot LOT more better and would probably accept it alot more as well.

Look at Ford, they had their heads on there shoulders and used it back around 5 years ago for on their mustang concept and they nail it right off the bat and they knew what people wanted! Yet for Dodge and their idea for the new called charger back then, they failed big time as the car didn't look anything like a dang charger. Maybe they should get some advice from Ford.

But I think Dodge is kinda maybe waken up now with their ideas for the Challenger and Camaro's design and making them look like the old school ones. Wait I better not say that as then they might see people likes those and then take the design the other way to make the car NOT look like them at all.  :smilielol:

It's a tough one. When the '05 came out, I was one of the first in the media to outwardly say, "It's a nice car, but just the wrong name." In fact, that little editorial nearly cost Mopar Muscle it's use of the licensing for the name "Mopar."

Then the SRTs came out and I started thinking, "You know, they're not that bad..."

The '11 redesign is LONG overdue and, knowing what Dodge can do design-wise (particularly with the Challenger), I was a little disappointed with the new Charger's grille. It's not Pontiac Aztek-ugly, but it could be better.

But, I'll tell ya, Ghoste. There's one angle on my '69 Charger that I can't get enough of. In fact, there have been times, after a long, hot Saturday of working in the garage when I've pulled up a chair, cracked a cold one, and sat and started at the back quarter for what seemed like hours.

The long, angular shoulder line of the '68-'70 Chargers is easily THE most muscular shape on ANY muscle car. So, the fact that Dodge brought that shoulder line back on the '11 is massive to my opinion of the new Charger. The back is perfect. It's new while being honest to its roots.

The single alcove on the door is good too. I was hoping not to see the dual scoops because I knew they wouldn't carry the creases all the way like the second gen. Chargers did. I think that's why I don't like the hood at all. Maybe I'm a hypocrite. I want retro, but not at the cost of being kitschy. The hood is kitschy.

I'm positive a SRT-version will fix the hood and give us a better front fascia. Will it be as handsome as the Challenger? No. But here's what I'm thinking. We've got two more years before the LX platform is completely outdated and the new chassis is brought out. Since Dodge got the tail right and tweaked the nose, I'm thinking a retro grille is in the works.

Do I know something you guys don't? Not at all. I'm just another classic Charger owner who hopes to see a new/old Charger on the highway as much as you do.

I agree on the hood scallops.  Maybe something up there that echos it (like the doors) but the straight copy doesn't play well on the other hood lines.
I also remember well that editorial you speak of.  I was quite proud of you for having the balls to say what the rest of us were.  And big big shame on Chrysler for trying to bully your silence.  It's no surprise of course and I'm sure in Auburn Hills and Germany both people were lined up daily for quite some time to get a firm ass kicking after that judgemental error.

As much as I champion the 4 door CHARGER, I gotta say I'm not sold on the front grille of the '11 models. I'd like to see it in paint that matches the body color (esp. black) and with a honeycomb insert...maybe it'll grow on me.

Until they change that front end around all togother. Sorry no go here for me at all. That front looks nothing like a charger at all, only maybe 3/4 of the car looks like a charger and the main part of the whole car is the front end an yet they still miss.  :brickwall:

Does'nt look much different to me.......and that's a shame. :eek2:
