Yes I am, Seminole is just east of Indian Rocks Beach. Last year there was a great thread on favorite recipes with all kinds of creative foods so I'm hoping for input to develop a Charger Chili with ideas from everyone. Last nite I literally got the only box of chili mix (other than "white chili" what ever that is) in our brand new huge Publix supermarket (Carol Shelby's brand). It's not too bad, but I know the guys here have darn good recipes for stews and other things. The problem with Google and recipes is (I've found) it's not interactive, it's just 100's lists off websites, I want to combine ideas from other members here with there ingredients.....I've herd of putting cinnamon in it and stuff like that but last night even the beans....there are dried, canned and frozen and what kinds red, light red, black ect. same for tomatoes and on and on. I just thought it would be fun to try now that many are stuck dealing with winter!  :scratchchin:

RD

here is ours:

1 1/2 lbs hamburger
1 onion
3 tbsp chili powder or 2 tsp of chilies
8 oz can of tomato sauce
32 oz can of sliced tomato (or you can cut your own, preferably skinned)
2 tbsp of flour
3/4 tsp oregano leaves
1/4 tsp black pepper
1 tsp salt
1 tbsp vinegar
2 cans of red kidney beans
1 tsp brown sugar
1 tsp of garlic powder
2 1/2 cups of water

first, fry together the whole onion, the hamburger and the chili powder or chilies

second, combine all ingredients and boil until all is hot, and voila.  great with crackers and/or cheese.  not a traditional chili (i.e. beans and meat and spice), but stays well in the fridge for leftovers.  oh, it does have a kick to it.  enough to clear out the ol' nostrils.

I have used the Carroll Shelby's mix for years. You just have to play with the mixture. I add garlic, onions, peppers and fire roasted tomatoes. The White Chili is fantastic. You use Chicken and cannellini beans. And I add the same stuff as the regular chili.

Thanks more to add, the white chili would that work with shrimp or am I nuts?  :scratchchin:

Yes! "Skyline" style...Good link as I had no idea what was in it! Steak and Shake by me has some thing close to it, but not as tasty as when made by a person from Ohio!

My wife is a Skyline fan. The other is Gold Star? Anyhow she introduced me to it and I now have her make it all the time. She got hooked when she lived in Cinci.

I'd try it.  :2thumbs:  When I make the White Chili, I use 2 lbs of boneless , skinless chicken breasts, 3 cans  of cannellini beans, 1 can of fire roasted tomatoes, garlic, onions and green peppers,  all the spices and the water it calls for. You will need to thicken it with the masa flour.

A few tablespoons of cocoa powder gives it a deep brown colour and adds some nuttiness to the flavour.
