the dome light function on dimmer wheel is really easy to home fix... is not more than a ground tab pushed by an indent on porcelain wheel. Recently I made to work a complete dimmer assembly from a 70 Charger. Not a pro resto, but did work

I will give it a shot, and test that orange wire on the panel connecter too.  I gotta buy a shop manual cd.  Do you know if you have to take the cluster out to get to the rheostat, or does that recessed panel the light switch/dimmer/washer/flasher switch is on, come out seperatly?
