Please look at this picture and tell me if this is an AM/FM cassette. Its in a 1967 Plymouth Fury III I listed on Ebay for a buddy of mine. I didn't look closely when I took pictures just saw a slot and assumed it was a cassette well today he calls me and says that isn't a cassette player I have no idea what else it could be.

No casette in 67, the slot would be for the station preset buttons.  They appear to be missing??

8 tracks on 60s... cassette began on 70/71. I think some lates 60s ( 68/69 ) could get that as a WEEEEEEIRD option on C bodies

A 157.00 option in 66 is a remarkable expense. (googled it)  :o It may be they did not use push button as it was first AM/FM?

I don't know, I don't see any mention of cassette players in the parts catalogs until the 71 model year.

He needs to poke the slot....OK no jokes! Compact Cassette came out in 63 but only in development, it would have a slot with one side being larger to orient the cassette to the player. I think it's just blank to allow install of cheaper AM push button radios also.  :scratchchin:

Yes, I did see some am/fm radios in the parts books that looked like they didn't use pre-set knobs.

I had a 67 Fury III ... they are preset buttons and yes, they are missing.  The buttons below are for the heater-A/C.

Ok seems odd that the preset buttons would just be missing. This car is excellent original condition with no else missing.

Well its gonna be taken out of the dash to check. I guess I'll revise the ad to says its not a cassette player.
