I am also a bit worried about the future state of this company. Looking at the Detroit auto show, where most North American Automakers debut their best cars, ford is debuting many new products (focus, fiesta, and two new mustang power plants), general motors has a bunch of concept cars going in many different styling directions (nothing wrong with testing waters). But Chrysler has.... special editions? Sure you brought a Lancia over to see what people think of it, but no new debuts or concepts. I know the company is cash strapped but you have to spend money to make money, and with some of the most dated designs the latter will certainly not happen without the former.

A Pt Cruiser with two tone paint, a Minivan with two tone seats and a blue wrangler are not what we consider show stoppers.

I can forgive them on not having exciting concepts in the works though.  After the last 18 months it's amazing they are even around.

Brock Samson

the designs they had from cerberus which were Damiler follow ons at this time last year are being revised, too late to do anything with the '10s but i suspect that in '11 there will be considerable new product.
and why everyone thinks this guys thread is about

design

   i really don't understand.   :shruggy:

Ok, I'll cc this to your email;

Have you ever driven a Big-Block, 4 speed, 2 door B-Body Dodge Charger?

If not, do so. I'm certain that somebody on this forum will volunteer one. I would if it was out of restoration.

Until that happens, I'm not sure you can relate to the market segment you're courting here.

Eric

Not necessarily.  How many members here haven't driven a big block, 4 speed Charger?  I haven't.

Are the new Charger's selling? i sure do see lots of them around. The young guys and gals in their 20's and 30's don't know what a first, second or third gen charger look like, nor do they care. Maybe the guys like us who want to see a better version of the Charger are just a small audience.

Bullseye.

Yes, they may be trying to  fiqure out how  to "court" us, but, it is to get our wives in Caravans, not sell muscle cars.   (not in the biblical sense off course - or maybe...

Hmm, I do know that I always feel "violated" whenever I do business with a car lot...

Our '05 PT is in 2 tone (black and red), nothing new there. Other than the internet and car brochures I've never seen another painted like in almost 5 years.

I finks dodge is going to have a noose in the mail with an instruction manual on how to set it up and where to insert head.

Take my advice man, DON"T ship it via UPS what ever you do as it might get damage.

I just happen to work for UPS and I can assure you that I take the up most care of the packages, even if its only for the three seconds I handle each one. hahaha

Why wouldn't you? The only thing they've ever changed on that body is the front insert.

I had a 99 Sahara, my god I loved that thing, In stock drag I brought her off roadign with some friends, and the old girl held it's own! Well, I pusted 2 belts on the tired, but I fixed that with a set of 30x9.5's

I don't blame Jeep for that.

ohh, gotta add one more Jeep story, The Wife had a 96 Cherokee sport, inline 6 and a stick, driving home one hot day the lower radiator hose burst, she didn't know because the kids where yelling and the ac and radio where blasting... well, the car locked  right up, she called me and told me the car stopped running and she called AAA.

When I got home the Jeep was being loaded off the wrecker <I always look at the car first> I went over, opened the hood and saw what happened, figured the motor was dead... i let it cool for awhile, went out, stepped on the clutch and turned the key to check to be sure. the thing FIRED RIGHT UP...

I turned it off, went to the local parts store, for a new radiator, hoses and water pump....

We sold that jeep with 196,000 miles on it, and to this day, the guy who bought it still drives it, he put a 2 inch body lift, 4 inch suspension and 4 wheels it on a regular basis.

I love jeep!

I can forgive them on not having exciting concepts in the works though.  After the last 18 months it's amazing they are even around.

When Studebaker was in trouble, they brought out some of the most innovative cars in history. What killed them was union labor costs. You would think the current auto makers would have learned a lesson from history.

TCB09RT

What would be nice at the club level would be:
-Discounts for Mopar performance parts. 20% sounds about right
-Dodge sponsored track day events for the club, either 1/4 mile or road racing, have some seminars on driving and performance enhancements, roll out a concept or show car to get that marketing message out for after market Mopar mods with appropriate eye candy to drive the message hard
-Discount access to lawyers to help fight those unfair speeding and burn out tickets.
-Lawyers on site at cruise events.  If Sam Bernstein and his kids were available real time at the Woodward Dream Cruise to represent hapless gear heads there be more 'nostalgia' going on at the strip

I read your first post.  I can tell your part of the marketing team.  It's a no brainer question if you want to know what Charger fans really want.  If you want a successful selling Charger, you'll have to try harder to design and manufacture a modern car that actually looks like what the old one's look like.  Otherwise dont do it at all.

What I can understand is why the Challenger was a better attempt.
However the interior of the Challenger is pathetic.  The interior had no resemblence of the vintage design.

Either fix the Charger or discontinue it.  And if you dont fix it. well I hope your whole design department gets fired.
