Anyone heard of plans for a direct injection Mopars heads?

If you mean Gasoline based DIRECT "Combustion Chamber" Injection ?

Chrysler did alot of R&D in the mid to late 90's on a 2 stroke 4 cylinder design, "Direct Injection Fuel System", that apparently showed great promise in actual prototypes that were developed.
Fuel economy and power was excellent !
It was targeted, (when the time came), to be their Hybrid powerplant as I understand it.

Unfortunately, eventual new platform development lagged, and Money woes, until finally the project was mothballed.

Nonetheless, the Technology in the area was cutting edge !

Would that mothballing coincide with the Daimler takeover at all?  Just wondering if Mercedes struck it down with a "not invented here" attitude.

Several other companies use direct injection. The V6 engine in the new Camaro (300+ hp and 29 mpg) is one as well as the top of the line engine in the Saturn Sky/Pontiac Solstice. The key is in the electronics to precisely measure and time the fuel.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.
