Hey I've only come across 1 in my travels. It had just been swapped to a big block and I was confused. It was in fantastic condition. A very well kept (dare I say survivor) bought from original owner. I would not have been able to change out that nice of an example of what is a rare car. Anyway let's see your leaning tower of power cars.....if there are any out there?

I know of a 6cyl 3spd 68 Charger up here...had a chance to buy it...didn't have the money at the time

This was quite some time ago in Chester Va. really nice fella and a remarkable condition green, 69 I think.  :scratchchin:

Sublime/Sixpack

I saw a '69 Charger with a slant six many, many years ago. I remember thinking, a Charger with a slant six?

Now, my perspective would be completely different. No way would I swap that six out for an eight.

I too would like to see photos of a Slant six Charger.

Seen one at a local meet once. They built fewer slant six Chargers than they built Hemi cars, right?

I think like 500 a year?  :shruggy: There can't be many left.

Ghoste

Around 904 in 68, 462 in 69, and 181 in 1970.  The first couple of years that they were offered in the 3rd gens they built just over a hundred a year and then in 74 it spikes up to a couple of thousand or more.

GREEN684SPD

saw one in a wrecking yard a few years ago in tucson.

No photos of the buzz'in half dozen? My / 6 Duster with 3 on the floor was a good one...everyone saw the stick and was sure it was V8 4 speed car.

Ghoste-  Thanks for the input on the production numbers, I have been busy this week proctoring chemistry exams, so I missed this topic until now.  Don't forget to add the 28 Charger 500s and one Charger 500 SE that was made during the 1970 production run.  The ones you listed above are for the base model for 1970, and I think there were five /6 Charger SEs made during the 1969 run (almost bought the one up in Washington a few years back).

I still have my 1970 base model /6 Charger awaiting restoration (need to get some spare time now to play with it)......

Really!? My 73 was a /6.  :brickwall:
My dad bought it off the lot and it ended up as my first car when I was 17.

Chad, you are very correct on the 70 numbers.  Sorry about that I completely missed the XP cars.  Of course the 5 69SE's that you mention are included in that 462 total.

I passed on a '69 model back a few years ago, It was white with blue interior, slant 6/3-speed column shift. Wish now I would have bought it just because its so odd.
And just last year I looked at a '73 model with a slant 6/Auto....it was a good looking car, well taken car of, I passed on it, but nice original car.

Jason

Sorry I didnt get any engine pics, but here's the 73 I looked at last year with a factory slant 6 in it.....

I've got one. It's a 68. It came with a 3 speed originally. When I got it there was an automatic in it, but I've changed that to an A833 overdrive.

According to the calculator at vexer.com I'll be turning 2200 rpm at 80 miles an hour :icon_smile_big:

I smile because my first car had a 3.91 rear and small 245/60/14 wheels and turned like 4000 rpm at 80 and only 3200 or so at 60. It was hard to drive it anywhere. Now it will take longer to get to speed, but it'll be nicer once I'm there.

My first Charger was a 69 R/T with a 440, so I've done the big engine. Now I'll have fun on the other end of the scale.

My new computer doesn't have a program to resize pics right now, but here are links to some big size crappy camera phone photos I just took. It's rough, but complete and no bad rust.
