im thinking about doing away with my column shifter and putting in an after market B&M or HURST auto . i would like some pics how they look . i may get a console and rig it up in there . 

just looking for ideas

No, I have an IDIDIT tilt billet column. Jon @ tube chassis picked this one for me. He said TRUST ME , and I did. The shifter works flawlessly.

Check into the "Hurst Dual Gate" it would look good in a 3rd gen. console.

Did someone say Hurst!?  I installed a V-Matic 2 (ratchet and gate) in my '68 and I am very happy with it (saved about 900 bucks by not rebuilding the factory console).  I moved the new shifter about 5" back from the factory location and it is very comfortable and shifts great!  Also it's cable operated and has neutral and reverse lockouts.
