Did something that made me feel really good today!!!

A buddy and I came up with the idea that we'd send a gift box to a friend who's serving in Iraq right now. He's got a wife and several kids up here that are spending the Holidays alone while Dad fights for our freedom, so I thought this was the least we could do!!

Anyways, it's a 27 lb box of home made goodies heading his way... He'll be in heaven!!





A family recipe that's 4 generations old!!

What a great gift  .  I've been on the receiving end before and it really means a lot to know that friends back home care enough to do something special. That kind of gift will make your holiday special too. Thanks for sharing and giving others a great gift idea.

Very nice of you to do this.  This year even though times are tough, I have tried to kick in a dollar or so anytime I saw someone collecting stuff for the troops over seas.  I have a rotating shift for my police dept job and yes it sucks to have to work a holiday but after my shift, at least I get to go home.  These people over seas who are fighting for our freedom don't have that option once their shift gets relieved.  Hopefully this will give them a little feeling that people back in the good ol USA is still thinking and caring about them.

yes, and it helped pass the time, everyone had a story about when they got a box with a particular item in it, your gonna be very popular with those 20's in there.........

on another note, i'm feeling really downtrodden this season and could use a 4 spd top plate as a holiday pick me up................................

Man,,,,, does that bring back memories.. While serving in the Navy many of us got little boxes of goodies from home. I was lucky enough to get them from MOM & Dad and a buddy's wife. Then one day while taking a break after watch I went aft. to sit and chew on a few brownies and another buddy had received a package of his Dads home smoked beef jerky. I asked if he wanted to make a trade. He said no that I would kill him for what was left if he did.. lol... So he gave me some of the MOST AWESOME jerky I have ever had. Next time he spoke to his dad he told him how much I loved it and before you know it I was getting my own little package of jerky from his folks..

These are the gestures that make us human and keep our military from going crazy when deployed. Unless you've been there you cannot fully appreciate it.

My hat is off to you Jeff and your buddy too.
