I know it's not a Charger, but hot dammit, I think it's a step in the right direction.

My wife will be in the market for a new car about then. I know what I want her to get! That Chally is sweet. It has all the retro lines that you would expect in a modern/retro muscle car.

That is way too cool. How did this very fine automobile get past Daimler VP exec "No 2 door car market"..."Anti retro"..."If you want a '69 Charger, go buy one"..."They think their Chargers are the real thing" Mr. Creed.

I thought he (Mr. Creed) was STUCK ON STUPID, i may have been wrong. :shruggy: :D

I think it was more a matter of getting whacked upside his thick head by Mustang sales figures and the backlash from the old school Mopar faithful such as ourselves that finally woke him up......... ::)

That's sweet and a nice piece of machinery! Gee, I'll consider buying one. Nice to have 68 Charger R/T and a Chally next to it.

the drawing is on the front of the automotive page in my newspaper this morning.  I hope they build a convertible, I would love to have a convertible 09 to park next to the convertible 70.  I wish my 70 had a Hemi.

Ladies and Gentlemen... you have just seen my next new Car. I just sold the ole' Dakota, so HELLO CHALLENGER!... now I just have to tell the wife ;)

This would be great, but I HATE that orange color. The real hemi-orange on my 71 is great, it almost glows at night. That new orange looks like it belongs on an m&m candy.

Let See, 08, probably means out in early to mid 07 with the way this works these days.  Hmmm I may have enough time to get my 71 done so I can drive my Charger down to pick up my Challenger, this thing is awesome!

Are there more pictures of the car in the magazine or is the cover shot the only "new" picture of the car?   If there are more how about posting those too?   :icon_smile_evil:

I bet it will out sell the Pustang by a mile. If they were smart they would also remake or develop a new story like "Vanishing Point" using the new Chally somewhere in the desert racing to the west coast.

Maybe the story should be of a Federal Agent that collects old cars as a hobby (all Mopars) is trying to stop a terrorist group from delivering the next attack somewhere in the west coast. All aircraft have been grounded in the US due to the threat, but he knows exactly where it's going to happen from the "modus operandi" learned while he was a NSA agent in the clandestine division while in the hunt for Osama and this terrorist attack is going to happen in the next 24 hrs!! Two days earlier he had just received delivery of his new 2008 Challenger R/T. His 1968, 1969 and 1970 Charger R/T Hemi's are tied up in a museum on display and his other Mopars are being restored. Therefore the new Chally will have to deliver him to the terrorists.

I'm not convinced it's gotten past the stoic bean counters at all yet. I'll believe it when I see it on the car lots. Ok everybody, on the count of three we're going to hold our breath. 1, 2, awww forget it. :icon_smile_dead:

If they were smart they would have done the Charger right in the first place so they could have been competing with the Mustang over the past year.

I agree, Mark. I said in the other Challenger post they must have 4 million gallons of that burnt orange paint they need to get rid of. Half the new "Chargers" are that color too.

It'll never be made...

They'll make it TK, it just won't look like the picture above. Insert additional wisecrack here...

I'm hoping they make it. It is what people have been hollering for since the unveiling of the Charger. To me I like the new Charger though. It fits what market it was designed for. The Challenger will fill the Pony car demand.

The new "Charger" does fit a niche, it's just not a Charger. DCX has contradicted itself from the get-go on this car by invoking the name yet ignoring the legacy. Oh well, we've been over this 100 times...

Of course, the other big negative could be that by the time they do this, the Rustang will have completely mined out the retro lode and the car will tank.  In that same period, the generic looking family car will continue to sell and DCX will hold it up as further proof that sporty 2 doors have no customers and we will have to wait another 30 years.
