Checked out an abandoned house the other day that was built in 1909 outside of Hood River Oregon. Five bedroom with a single bathroom on the second floor. My great grandfather and his friend built it.

It's in pretty sad shape now! Him and my great grandma passed away around 1957 and the property changed hands. Lots of water damage and mold.

Here are some pics:

Very cool house. Thanks for sharing the pics.  :2thumbs:
I pointed to two old drunks sitting across the bar from us and told my friend
"That's us in 10 years".
He said "That's a mirror, dip-shit!

That's not too far from where I live. I explored part of an abandoned house out near Multnomah Falls last summer. There's quite a few of them in that area.

One thing I found interesting, my mom has this same painting in her house but it's not as wide.

That is a very cool house.  So much more character in the old homes.  I hope someone can save it.

Silver R/T

definitely cool old house. They should bring in team from "this old house" and restore it. I always like watching that show

Cool pictures! I didn't think back then (early 1900's), that they had indoor bathrooms yet :shruggy:

It looks like the structure is pretty solid. It might be an easy fixer-upper if you could gut it and start from the studs or timber frame - whichever the case may be.

There's lots of character in houses like that.

Another family bought it in the late '50's when my great grandparents died. They lived in it a while and then sold it to their son. He let it sit for a while and then moved in for about a year back in '98 or so while he was building a new house on the property. He said that him and his wife got asthma while living there because of all the mold. At some point a water pipe in the wall started leaking. They built a new house in front of the old one maybe 30-40 yards away. I suppose it could be rebuilt, but access would need to be created to the place as there is just a single driveway going up to the new house. The guy is somewhat reclusive, no phone listed number, hard to get ahold of. We had to drive up and knock on the door to catch him.

As for the "fuzes" box, we opened it but I don't remember what was inside of it. Not fuses I don't think.
